Matthew nodded, deciding not to interfere; Rachel seemed determined to handle the situation herself. Seeing Zayden and Brad emerge, she hurried toward them. “Mr. White, we finally caught up.”
Zayden frowned. “Didn’t I say I wasn’t seeing anyone? Even Malcolm was turned away, and he was my classmate. Do you really think I would see you?”
This was the first time Rachel had heard of a connection between Malcolm and Zayden. She finally understood Malcolm’s confident departure; his relationship with the White family had rendered her intervention unnecessary. She felt utterly hopeless. What should she do?
Suddenly, remembering Matthew’s business card, she quickly presented it with both hands. “Mr. White, Mr. Lloyd introduced me.”
Zayden took the card, immediately understanding the situation upon seeing the engraving. He handed it back. “Even though I respect Hugo, my family’s affairs are none of his concern.”
Rachel hadn't expected this; presenting the card had backfired, angering Zayden. She wasn't ready to give up. “Mr. White, could you spare me ten minutes?”
Zayden was irritated. “Rachel, go home. If it’s about business, I’ll only talk to Malcolm.” Dismissing Rachel, he turned to Brad. “Mr. Miles, I apologize for the interruption. Let’s get you to the airport.”
Brad nodded. As he stepped out of the gate, his eyes fell upon Matthew's ring, catching the light. He stopped abruptly.
“Young man, could I take a look at your ring?”
Matthew, unsure of Brad’s interest, extended his hand. He had received the ring from Nicholas; it was made of an unknown dark, shiny material, its design unusual.
Brad held the ring, examining it closely. His expression grew serious; his hands trembled. His voice faltered. “This is the Juprus Ring. Who gave you this ring?”
This was the first time Matthew had heard the ring's name. Nicholas had casually given it to him as a keepsake. Now, knowing the ring's name and significance, Matthew replied, “My mentor gave it to me.”
Brad’s excitement grew; he clapped. “So, you’re the current Juprus! I never imagined I’d meet a Juprus in my lifetime. It’s an honor beyond words. I’m Brad Miles, a military leader. Please, command me as you will, and I’ll follow your orders!”
Zayden stood beside them, stunned. To see someone of Brad’s stature show such respect for a young man was shocking. If the public learned of this, it would be breaking news. He was curious about the Juprus. What could it be?
Matthew had never heard of a Juprus. Nicholas hadn’t mentioned it, but given Brad’s reaction, it must have significant historical weight. Now wasn’t the time to investigate. He pointed to Zayden. “I need his support for my girlfriend’s business. Could you help?”
Brad immediately grabbed Zayden’s arm, pulling him before Matthew. “Whatever you need, just say the word! Whatever you need him to do, I guarantee he’ll get it done perfectly!”
