Listen to this chapter:

Matthew’s eyes flashed with anger. He had warned Jeffrey last night, yet Jeffrey shamelessly followed them to Lambda City. Matthew followed him into the building.

Jeffrey stood at the elevator, waiting. Noticing Matthew, he mocked, “Matthew Wealthwave Group is in trouble. Why aren’t you helping?”

Matthew remained silent, staring at the elevator doors.

Irritated by the cold shoulder, Jeffrey sneered, “I forgot; you’re just a driver. Even if the company falls apart, what could you do?”

Matthew’s expression turned cold. “Who said I can’t help?” He could offer assistance—money or connections—but Rachel was capable, so he preferred not to interfere.

Jeffrey sneered. “You speak without knowing your limits. How can you help? With your driving skills? Matthew, people must be self-aware. What matters most when searching for a partner is a good match. You have no family background and no abilities. You can’t live off someone else forever! Back out while you can!”

Matthew’s anger flared. “Jeffrey, don’t push too far. I don’t want trouble, so don’t provoke me!”

Jeffrey retorted disdainfully, “What can you do if I provoke you? If it weren’t for Rachel, you’d have been dealt with by now. Do you think you’d still be standing here?”

Was that a threat? Matthew’s gaze sharpened; he exuded an intimidating air, resembling a beast about to explode.

Just then, the elevator dinged. Rachel walked out with several employees. Matthew’s imposing demeanor vanished as he shot a cold glance at Jeffrey without speaking.

Jeffrey was startled; he’d thought Matthew was about to attack. Seeing Matthew back down, he snorted disdainfully. It turned out Matthew was just a coward!

Rachel noticed Jeffrey and was slightly surprised. “What brings you here?”

Jeffrey smiled. “I heard you’d encountered a problem. You’re an old classmate, and I have a contact who could help, so I came over.”

Rachel frowned. The company had just encountered problems, yet Jeffrey already knew. He’d shown up uninvited and was overly enthusiastic. She couldn’t directly refuse, so she said, “Thanks, but there’s no need for help. It’s a small issue; we can handle it.”

Jeffrey smiled. “How about this? I’ll come along. There’s strength in numbers.”

Tracy, next to her, knew Rachel didn’t have a good solution and was just holding on. “Thank you, Mr. Smith. Let’s all go together,” she chimed in.

Rachel glared at Tracy. She had no choice but to agree. “Alright, let’s all go to the hospital then.”

Rachel, Tracy, Jeffrey, and several Wealthwave Group executives—about a dozen people—headed to the hospital.

Upon reaching the inpatient building, they were about to head upstairs when Jeffrey said, “Discussing business matters with a large group can be chaotic and make the other party anxious. Let’s just take a few people; three to five should suffice. The others can wait downstairs.”

Rachel nodded and asked Tracy to follow. The HR manager, Jared Davis, and Jeffrey also followed, making four in total.

Matthew, slightly worried, said, “I’ll go with you.”

Jeffrey coldly responded, “What could a driver like you do up there?”

Rachel, feeling overwhelmed, said, “Just wait for me downstairs.”

Matthew had no choice but to stop. Seeing Jeffrey’s smug expression, his eyes flickered with anger, but he could do nothing more.

After the elevator left, he found the back stairs and slowly made his way up.

On the fifth floor, in the special care ward, a patient was hooked up to various machines, receiving oxygen and IV fluids. At the door, three children cried. A woman in her 40s paced anxiously.

Leah Anderson felt like she was about to collapse. Her husband, James Dawson, had only caught a cold, yet after a certain intravenous injection, he’d unexpectedly become comatose. Looking at her young children, Leah felt as if the sky was about to fall.

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Rachel led her group out.
