After that, Elliott left, closing the last avenue of loans for Evergreen Group. Tessa was devastated, especially by Elliott’s words: without Matthew, she was nothing. Blinded by stubbornness, she had divorced Matthew, and now the company teetered on the brink of collapse, facing imminent auction. Even selling the company wouldn't cover the debts. She couldn't imagine the outcome.

Thirty-three feet away, she saw Matthew chatting happily with two beautiful women. Their high spirits contrasted sharply with her desperate situation and the lack of solutions. Tears streamed down her face; regret overwhelmed her. If she hadn't divorced him, she would only need to shop, go to spas, and count money at home. Matthew had always indulged her every whim, even fetching her a late-night latte if she desired. Now, she desperately longed to remarry him.

She almost approached him, ready to beg for reconciliation, but the sight of Rachel stopped her. Rachel's beauty felt like a barrier, promising only humiliation. Tessa needed a better opportunity.

After Matthew finished his meal, he quietly waited, noting Rachel's slow eating pace—another twenty minutes, he estimated. He felt restless, wanting to leave, Tessa's presence a constant reminder of unhappy memories. Suddenly, Tracy's phone rang. She answered with a smile, "Hello, what's up?" The smile vanished, replaced by a serious expression. She hung up and said to Rachel, "Evan wants to see you in person. He's being quite arrogant."

Rachel replied, "Since he wants to see me, I'll go." Tracy glanced at Matthew, wanting to speak but hesitating. Matthew sensed the matter might involve him. What could it be? He waited for Tracy to elaborate. Rachel, understanding Tracy's hesitation (they were longtime friends), said, "Just say it; he's not an outsider." Tracy coughed and said, "Alright, Evan said you should meet him in a club's private room."

Rachel frowned. "He wants me to go to a club?" That place was notorious; it was inappropriate for a woman. Evan's bad intentions were obvious. Matthew frowned too. Evan, a reporter who knew Rachel was president of Wealthwave Group, made such a demand—the situation was serious. The issue of retracting the article was more complex than he'd thought.

Tracy nodded. "Yes, I feel he isn't sincere. What should we do?"

Rachel raised an eyebrow. "I don't believe a mere reporter would dare to scheme against me. Let's go now."

Tracy stood, ready to face any challenge. "I'll go with you!"

Matthew also stood. "Let's go. I'll drive you. I want to see what Evan is up to."
