Listen to this chapter:

Matthew pointed at Evan and said, “It’s him. You handle it.” Patrick, constantly chasing him for repayment, annoyed Matthew. He decided to give Patrick a chance to act, hoping to avoid further trouble.

Patrick grabbed Evan's hair and lifted him forcefully. “You’ve got a death wish! How dare you mess with Mr. Grant?”

Evan grimaced in pain. “Patrick, it hurts! Please, let me go. I… I didn’t know you knew him. I really didn’t!”

Patrick slapped Evan twice and smashed his head against the wall. Blood immediately flowed from the wound, covering Evan's face.

Rachel was terrified, unsure what to do. She’d heard of violent business disputes, but never witnessed one. The scene made her tremble. Tracy, equally frightened, shouted, “Stop hitting him! Stop, you’ll kill him!”

Matthew walked to the couch and sat down slowly, quietly observing. He’d encountered blackmailing reporters before, but they usually left an escape route, accepting money to drop the matter. Evan, however, had gone too far. If Patrick hadn't intervened, Matthew would have.

Evan, terrified, knelt before Patrick. “Patrick, stop! You’ll kill me! I was forced into this. I was just following orders. Please, spare me!”

Patrick looked at Matthew. “Mr. Grant, do you have anything you want to ask him?”

Matthew shook his head. “No.”

Patrick understood. He had to beat Evan until he revealed his source. He rained blows upon him until exhaustion. “Are you going to say it or not? If not, I’ll continue.”

Beaten, Evan writhed in pain. He’d wanted to confess earlier but hadn’t had the chance to speak. Now, he finally could. “I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything. Our newspaper company has been losing money, so we reporters find our own ways to make extra cash.”

Patrick kicked him. “Explain. What do you mean by ‘extra cash’?”

Terrified, Evan quickly explained, “Every industry has its dirty secrets. We get hold of compromising material and tell companies they’ve been reported. We threaten to expose them unless they pay us off. That’s how we make extra money.”

He glanced at Patrick, checking for satisfaction.

Patrick shouted angrily, “Why are you looking at me? Keep talking!”

Evan shuddered. “Our editor-in-chief, Johan Rhodes, met a wealthy man. I don’t know exactly what he does, only that he’s rich. Johan calls him ‘Mr. Parker.’ Mr. Parker instructed him to publish this article. Right now, Johan is upstairs having dinner with Mr. Parker.”

Matthew stood up. “Where exactly is this Mr. Parker?”

Evan pointed upstairs. “At Jubilee Bistro, right upstairs. You can find him there now. I’ve told you everything, so please spare me.”

Patrick kicked Evan into unconsciousness. Turning to Matthew, he said, “Mr. Grant, you go find the man. I’ll stay here and keep an eye on him. Once you find him, I’ll let him go.”

Matthew nodded. “Thanks for your hard work. Good job.”

Patrick replied excitedly, “It’s an honor to help you, Mr. Grant.”

Matthew turned to Rachel. “Let’s go.”
