Listen to this chapter:

Tyler was taken aback. How had it come to this? Had he fallen into a trap? He quickly recovered, realizing he might have been duped. Feeling flustered, he smiled apologetically. “Sorry, Ms. Carter. I made a mistake; I didn’t mean to take your chauffeur. I’ll be more careful next time.” He immediately apologized to de-escalate the situation.

Matthew coldly challenged, “Didn’t you want to fire me? Do you think you own this place, doing whatever you want?”

Tyler, still surprised by Rachel’s arrival, wore a sullen expression. He couldn’t believe a mere chauffeur like Matthew dared to speak up. He answered, “I thought you refused to do what you’re paid to do. It was a misunderstanding.”

With a grim expression, Matthew retorted, “It’s not a misunderstanding. You were rude and disrespectful. Even if I had the time, I wouldn’t have driven you!”

Everyone present was astonished. Was Matthew out of his mind? He had the audacity to say something so bold in front of Rachel.

Tyler was secretly delighted. He’d been struggling to find fault with Matthew, but Matthew had just handed it to him on a silver platter. He immediately told Rachel, “Look at his attitude, Ms. Carter. Why keep him? He should be fired.”

Feeling annoyed, Rachel glared at Matthew. She then realized his agitation, which was understandable considering she’d arrived earlier and heard Tyler’s harsh words. Rachel cleared her throat. “Matthew will be my chauffeur from now on. He isn’t driving anyone else but me.”

Tyler was dumbfounded. Rachel was clearly backing Matthew. Zachary was bewildered as well. Instead of being fired, Matthew was promoted to Rachel’s private chauffeur. What a blessing in disguise—Matthew was incredibly lucky.

He suddenly recalled Matthew saying he was Rachel’s boyfriend. The conversation had been bizarre; Matthew had even commented on Rachel’s uncomfortable bed. Zachary stood blankly, pondering if Matthew had told the truth.

The onlookers gaped in surprise. Everyone witnessed Rachel’s support of Matthew and grew curious about their relationship. Noticing their reactions, Rachel felt embarrassed. “You’re the sales manager, Tyler Hill! Why are you being aggressive toward other departments’ staff? Do you need an ego check?”

“Do you remember the vegetative patient in the hospital? You could have contacted the relevant director, but Matthew had to handle it. What’s the point of having you as a manager?”

Tyler’s face flushed with embarrassment; he wished the earth would swallow him. He couldn’t wait to leave. Being reprimanded by the boss in front of so many staff members was humiliating. On top of that, a chauffeur had solved a problem he, the sales manager, couldn’t.
