Listen to this chapter:

That night, Matthew waited until Lorraine was asleep before quietly leaving her room. He found his parents already in bed. Returning to his room, he switched on the bedside lamp and pulled out an envelope. Ansel had called this Nicholas's first task.

Nicholas remained a mystery. Matthew yearned to know more, but his mentor remained tight-lipped, fueling his curiosity. He held the envelope's corner, carefully tearing it open. The rip echoed in the silent room. He extracted and unfolded the letter.

It read: “Matthew, someone once saved me. Besides teaching him medicine, I gave him the Tiger Seal, symbolizing the King of Medicine’s legacy. Since you're my successor, retrieve the item. If his family needs help, please assist them. You can find him at this address.”

Postmarked Lambda City, Northridge District, the letter was addressed to Mr. Walter Reed, Birchwood Community, Glen Road. Matthew was disappointed; Nicholas's identity remained undisclosed. The letter solely detailed his assignment.

The Tiger Seal symbolized the King of Medicine. Nicholas had recounted a story: the King of Medicine, while collecting herbs, treated a tiger with a bone lodged in its mouth. For safety, he used a bronze ring to remove the bone; this ring became the Tiger Seal.

Matthew was surprised his medical skills were part of this legacy. He finally understood their origins. He reread the letter, carefully refolded it, and returned it to the envelope.

The next day, Matthew sent Lorraine to kindergarten before heading to work at Wealthwave Group. Zachary discreetly pulled him aside. "How did you do it?" he whispered.

Matthew was puzzled. "What do you mean?"

Zachary asked curiously, "How did you get into Ms. Carter's good graces? Becoming her chauffeur is impressive. I spent all night trying to figure it out!"

Matthew understood. He smiled. "We're dating. That's all."

Zachary remained unconvinced. He'd spent the previous night concluding this was unlikely. If Matthew were Rachel's boyfriend, he wouldn't be her chauffeur; she would have made him her kept man. This idea thrilled him.

Rachel was in her twenties and stunning. Zachary would have done anything to be pampered by a wealthy young woman, even if it meant sacrificing ten years of his life.

"Stop teasing, Matt. Seriously, how did you end up with a rich woman?"

With a wry smile, Matthew shook his head. "I'm as clueless as you are. It just happened."

Zachary's gaze intensified. "Tell me your secret, Matt. How did it begin?"

Matthew, seeing Zachary's curiosity, replied casually, "Rachel came to my house to propose marriage. She wanted to marry me, but I felt we weren't a good match. Then she begged me, saying she wouldn't marry anyone else."

Zachary smacked his lips, thinking Matthew exaggerated. Rachel was beautiful and rich; she wouldn't propose, let alone insist on marrying him.

Rachel entered, seeing them talking. "What are you discussing?" she asked casually.

Zachary's face paled. He feared Matthew would incriminate him. Matthew chuckled. "I said you'd only marry me. He doesn't believe it."
