Chapter 25

I smiled at Jonas before taking the stage. "Ladies and gentlemen, good evening," I announced, scanning the room. "Tonight, I want to share a dream—a dream born from the purest wish to give the next generation a better future."

I spoke about my education project, my experiences at the rural elementary school. Describing the children's eager faces, their thirst for knowledge, I saw tears welling in the audience. "Education shouldn't be a privilege," I said, my voice firm. "It's a right, and it's our responsibility to give these children a fair start, a chance to chase their dreams."

The room erupted in applause. Relief washed over me as I stepped down, returning to my seat. Jonas hugged me tight. "Daddy, you were amazing! Everyone was clapping!"

"Thank you, Jonas," I said, ruffling his hair. "It's all because of your support."

After the gala, people swarmed me, their support overwhelming. I answered everyone, though exhaustion gnawed at me. As Jonas and I prepared to leave, Yvonne approached.

"Cole," she said, her expression unreadable, "your speech… it was moving. I didn't expect this from you."

"People change, don't they?" I replied calmly.

Yvonne hesitated, then sighed. "Cole, I hope we can talk… for the children's sake."

"Alright," I agreed. "We'll arrange a time."

The night breeze kissed our faces as Jonas and I walked away. Looking down at my son, a deep contentment filled me. No matter what the future held, in that moment, it was just the two of us, together. That was everything.

The next morning, Peyton called. "Cole, you've gone viral!" he exclaimed. "Your speech is everywhere! Companies are already contacting you about the project!"

"This quickly?" I asked, surprised.

"That's the power of public opinion," he laughed. "And our magazine wants an exclusive interview. This Saturday work?"

"I'll be visiting the rural elementary school," I said. "You're welcome to join."

"Perfect!"

After hanging up, I found Jonas drawing. "Jonas," I said softly, "we're going back to see the children this Saturday. Want to come?"

His eyes lit up. "Really? Amazing! I've already packed things for them!" His excitement warmed my heart. I'd noticed a change in Jonas lately—he was happier, more confident.

Saturday arrived quickly. With supplies loaded, Jonas and I headed to the school with Peyton and his team. As soon as we stepped out of the car, children rushed towards us, shouting, "Mr. Joplin! Jonas! You're here!" Jonas grinned, immediately distributing the toys and supplies.
