Listen to this chapter:

"Our families are deeply connected," Yvonne said, her voice tight. "We can't just casually divorce. How will we explain this?"

I remained calm. "It's not a big deal. I'll talk to them. Our families' connection is irrelevant now. Langley Group doesn't need the Joplins anymore. A divorce won't affect our business. Profit comes first. They understand that." I printed another divorce agreement. "Sign this."

Yvonne was furious. She grabbed my hand, her voice a gritted whisper. "Cole, are you sure? There's no turning back!"

I smirked, clicking the mouse. The printer whirred, drowning out her protest. "I never regret my decisions."

She snatched her hand away. "Fine. If you want a divorce, I'll give you one. Don't act like you're indispensable. I'll redraw the agreement, and I'll get custody of the kids. You might end up with another woman, and she won't treat them right." A hint of mockery flickered in her eyes. "Jonas is sensible, but he won't tell me if he's unhappy."

Her words were ironic. She'd neglected the kids, relying on the nanny. Now, suddenly, she cared. I kept my voice level. "Rest assured, I have no plans to remarry soon. And even if I did, I wouldn't mistreat my children. They're my family." I paused. "Jared isn't their biological father, though. He might be nice now, but who knows how long that will last? Men understand men. Few treat another man's children as their own. He knew you were married. How can I trust him?"

"You don't know Jared!" she exploded. "How can you be so malicious? He'll always be the same!"

Her unwavering faith in him surprised me. I hoped, for my sons' sake, she wouldn't be disappointed.
