The police officers at the scene and the online viewers were amused by the father and son's interaction. Was that an eye for an eye?
[Give it to him! Why don't you give it to him? We strongly condemn your bullying behavior!]
[Baby, you're invited to my place. I'll buy you lots of delicious candies!]
[Oh my, the little boy is such a beautiful child! I hope I can have a beautiful child next year!]
Did you guys forget something?
[What's the matter? All I can see are the handsome man and cute boy now. Yum!]
Netizens are quite obsessed with appearances these days. When Byron and Theo appeared on screen, everyone was captivated by their ridiculously handsome looks. They couldn't think straight. Karen was particularly stunned by Theo's appearance.
"It's impossible... How could he be here?" she mumbled, her face as pale as a ghost.
Neville's plan was meticulous. He'd hired highly skilled retired mercenaries. There shouldn't have been any mistakes! How did the little bastard return?
The scene shifts to half an hour earlier.
Cold Water Highway.
As the truck bore down on them, the burly man beside the driver quickly grabbed the wheel, sharply turning the van to the right. The van narrowly missed the truck, breaking its rearview mirror.
"Thump!" "Bang!"
The truck slammed into the roadside guardrail with a deafening crash. The kidnappers in the van braced themselves, screaming in terror. Their faces were ashen. Will, however, remained calm in the middle seat, his expression unchanged.
As soon as the van stopped, the burly man pulled the kidnappers out one by one.
"Are you trying to rebel? Fuck!?" The scar-faced man raged, sensing something was wrong and signaling his accomplice to subdue the burly man.
"Behave yourselves!" The burly man punched the scar-faced man and beat the accomplices. He then tied them up.
Next, the burly man respectfully opened the car door. "Please get out of the car, Mr. McDaniel. Our men will be here soon."
Will stepped out, his dark eyes showing no fear. He was remarkably calm.
"Tie them up, load them in the truck, and bring them back."
"Yes."
The scar-faced man spat out blood, smiling sinisterly. "Alright, kid. I didn't expect you to trick us." If not for the accident, the kid would have followed them to the mastermind!
"Thank you for letting me win," Will said, tilting his chin slightly. "It seems the person who hired you didn't intend to spare your lives. That truck was meant to silence you. I should be considered your savior, then, shouldn't I?"
The scar-faced man's expression changed. He sneered. "Do you expect us to repay your kindness?"
"Your lives belong to me now," Will said calmly. "If you want to live, do as I say."
The innocent act Will put on in the van was a deception.
The scar-faced man's heart pounded. "What do you want us to do?"
"It's simple. Go to the police, confess, and reveal the mastermind," Will said slowly. "For good karma, I'll let you off at my discretion." [Note: The website promotion is removed here.]
The scar-faced man stared at Will before finally agreeing through gritted teeth. "Alright." He had been tricked.
Shortly after, the burly man returned. "The truck driver fainted, Mr. McDaniel. Our ride has arrived."
Will pulled out a hidden phone. After reading a message, he said indifferently, "There's no hurry. Let's do one more thing."
"Sure, I'm at your service."
"Distribute pictures of the accident scene to the media. Let them report it."
Will looked at the luxury cars lining the road, his soft hair moving in the wind. It wasn't over yet.
Meanwhile, at the McDaniel residence, Karen was visibly distressed, sweating profusely, insisting it was impossible.
"You seem surprised Will is back," Byron said, a hint of mockery in his voice. "Will isn't the only one who returned."
Karen was flustered. "Wh...What do you mean?"
Byron smiled thinly, glancing at the living room door. "They're here."
Karen and the others turned to see Archer and the bodyguards entering with several bruised men.
"Mr. McDaniel, we've brought them all here."
The police were confused. "Mr. McDaniel, who are they?"
Byron gestured to Archer, who explained, "They're the kidnappers who abducted Mr. Will. They collided with a truck while escaping. Fortunately, they avoided a major disaster."
"Mr. McDaniel's bodyguards rescued Mr. Will. We used... a little force to subdue them." The battered men were speechless. It was definitely more than "a little force"!
"That's not true!" Karen protested. "He said he was going to the arcade. Why were you saying he was kidnapped?"
"Can't I go to the arcade to relieve the shock of being kidnapped?" Theo retorted matter-of-factly. Will wouldn't expose him, so he wasn't afraid to say that.
Archer sensed something was amiss. Will had been with them, but disappeared quickly after exiting the van. Heโd arrived at the scene before them.
Karen was exasperated. "You're lying! You're covering up your father's crime..."
"Ms. Booth, when you paid us and asked for help, you said the reward would double after the job was done, and you'd help us leave the country," the scar-faced man said, "what's your plan now?"
"Stop talking nonsense!" Karen fumed. "Neville hired you. What does that have to do with me?"
Neville's name caused McDaniel and Alexis to react simultaneously. They wondered about Neville's involvement.
The police looked serious. "Ms. Booth, please explain clearly. What do you know?"
Karen's fear returned. She touched her brooch, sweating.
"Mr. Officer," Byron said, gesturing for Archer to produce a document bag. "This is Ms. Booth's psychiatric evaluation. She's been abusive since childhood, bullying classmates, disfiguring them, forcing them to drop out of school. She even killed someone."
