Chapter 393
Gale had no intention of ordering clothes; he only asked the butler to contact Dreamscape to meet Maeve and settle their previous matter. He disliked owing favors. Hearing Maeve's simple request surprised him. "Are you sure?"
Maeve nodded. "I'm sure."
Gale hummed softly. He didn't think highly of Maeve for this, nor did he consider her request insignificant compared to saving his life. He'd already given her freedom to choose her recompense. However, Gale added, "Also, add this manor as my thank-you gift."
Maeve heard Paige's gasp of shock and envy. 'Gosh, Ms. Reese was going to be rich!'
Maeve smiled. "Your manor is beautiful, but cleaning it would be difficult. I can't afford to hire many servants, so I'll pass." She'd only provided an antidote; Jaylen had been instrumental in his rescue. She wasn't shameless enough to take full advantage.
Even the butler looked at her differently. 'Can the manor's value be dismissed as merely inconvenient cleaning? She could hire hundreds of servants yearly from rental income! This lady is too young and impulsive.' Gale nodded, not pressing the matter. "Call Aeolian over."
The butler nodded and left.
Aeolian entered behind him. Seeing Maeve, she visibly felt uncomfortable, quickly lowering her head and moving away from Gale. "Uncle Gale, you called for me?"
"Mm." Gale said to Maeve, "This is my niece, Aeolian. Please design some clothes for her."
Maeve nodded. "Okay." She'd anticipated this; Gale seemed to avoid closeness.
Aeolian felt relieved. She'd previously taken Gale out, resulting in his food poisoning. The crisis seemed resolved.
"Thank you, Uncle Gale. You're so good to me," Aeolian said sweetly, smiling at Maeve. "Come with me."
Maeve smiled. "Alright."
Chapter 393
Familiar singing stopped Maeve. Turning, she was shocked. 'Huh? Why is Theo's magical song here?!'
Gale asked calmly, "Is there anything else?"
"No..." Maeve shook her head, dazed. "This music is vibrant. I'm captivated."
Unseen, the butler's hands trembled adjusting the playback equipment. His mouth twitched at her words. Gale, however, offered his first sincere smile. "Your taste isn't bad. It has a unique charm. I listen at least ten times a day." Maeve, Theo's mother, who hadn't dared listen twice, was speechless.
Gale continued, "It's called 'Devil's Sleep.' The hypnotic effect is excellent. I recommend it."
"Th...Thank you," Maeve said, seeming pained. "I won't disturb you. Goodbye."
She fled amidst Theo's increasingly enchanting singing, comparable to studio quality. It wasn't that she disliked her son's singing, but she couldn't honestly call it pleasant.
Maeve reflected. 'Am I too harsh? Strangers appreciate Theo's voice, but not me? No! But Mr. Soar seems to fall asleep daily listening to it. If he dislikes it, why torture his ears? Perhaps his hearing is poor.'
Aeolian noticed Maeve lingered and frowned. She was used to women approaching Gale. She expected this girl to be different, but she wasn't. Fortunately, Gale's eyesight was poor; otherwise, she might have an aunt.
Maeve remained dazed until Paige began measurements. She then asked Aeolian about her style preferences. As a benefactor, Aeolian showed respect and cooperated. After recording Aeolian's data, Maeve presented her design. Aeolian, accustomed to designer brands, was speechless. This girl was capable.
Chapter 393
"It's alright. That's all," Aeolian said flatly.
Maeve put away the design and prepared to leave.
"Ms. Reese," Aeolian called.
"What is it?" Maeve asked.
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
Maeve was stunned. "What's that got to do with my job?"
Aeolian frowned. "No." (But you should answer!)
Maeve nodded. "Then we'll leave. Goodbye."
After they left, Aeolian muttered, "What the hell is this?" and left. Seeing the butler exiting the master bedroom, she asked, "Is Uncle asleep?"
"Yes, my lady."
Aeolian pulled the butler aside. "You've been by his side for twenty years. You know his affairs. I want to know about his insomnia and help him." The butler smiled. "That's Mr. Soar's privacy. Even as his niece, you shouldn't ask me privately. I have other matters." He showed his pocket watch and left.
Aeolian spat. "A mere servant! What's to be arrogant about?"
Unaware, Maeve gave Paige the designs. She remembered the Islaton Private International Kindergarten uniform competition results were due.
