Chapter 498

Ms. Reese Zephyr noticed a slender figure from the corner of his eye. He hesitated, then took the apricot-colored phone from the receptionist. A small blue Doraemon pendant hung from it.

Aeolian gritted her teeth. Maeve must have done this on purpose! She just wants to attract Zephyr's attention to get close to him!

"Zephyr, let me give it to her. It's not appropriate for you to be too close to her. Anyway, I know where her studio is," Aeolian said.

Zephyr, understanding, gave her the phone.

"Give it to her properly. Don't say things that don't fit your image," Zephyr reminded her.

"She always provokes me first! Zephyr, you don't know that she's…" Aeolian began, sparing no effort to defame Maeve to eliminate any chance of her and Zephyr getting together.

Zephyr, however, didn't take Aeolian's words to heart, dismissing them as an act.

After the plane landed, Maeve, realizing her phone was missing, stood dumbfounded at the airport. It was unrealistic to search for it; she couldn't even remember where she'd dropped it.

Fortunately, Bonnie arrived at Kleymond's airport around the same time. She immediately took Maeve to buy a new phone and SIM card. After logging in, her data slowly recovered.

Maeve held the new phone, a little sad. "Will gave me the pendant on my old phone. I treasured it. I hope whoever found it will treat it well."

"Oh my. You should worry about them spying on our high-speed racing record. Otherwise, we'll both be ashamed," Bonnie joked.

Maeve was silent, wondering if her photo album contained anything embarrassing.

Coincidentally, as she inserted her SIM card, Clem called.

"Clem?" she asked.

"Maeve, I'm returning to Chris Continent in an hour. Can you meet?" Clem's anxious voice sounded.

Maeve scratched her cheek. "I had a work issue yesterday. I went to the Mo family's private island and returned to Kleymond this morning. I'm sorry, Clem."

Clem was silent for two seconds before sighing. "We always seem to miss each other." Their meetings were always rushed and unplanned, without even a proper goodbye.

Chapter 498

"It's alright, Clem. Last time, I treated you. Next time you're in Kleymond, it's your turn," Maeve said, jokingly adding, "You've earned so much money; you can't be petty, right?"

Clem laughed. "Why would I? You can have as many meals as you want. Swipe my card."

His subordinates arrived to remind him the helicopter was ready.

"Maeve, I'm leaving. Be safe," Clem said, his clear voice suddenly serious.

"Clem, you must be safe," Maeve replied seriously, a familiar farewell. For someone like him, safety was paramount.

Clem replied earnestly, "Even if I'm only a head, I'll swim back from Chris Continent to see you."

Maeve almost laughed. "Clem, you're humorous. Why are you so easily triggered when talking to me in person? Didn't I just snatch a lollipop when we were kids? You don't have to hold a grudge, right?"

Clem paused. "I don't know why, but I'm speechless when I see you." He was quite eloquent; before returning, he even scolded his uncle into a near heart attack.

Maeve thought, 'How scary am I?' She was relieved Clem didn't know about her past crush, the handkerchief, and love letter; his social phobia would be worse.

After hanging up, she remembered Clem's unopened gift. It was a Doraemon phone pendant with pink diamonds, a custom-made design. Having lost her old phone and pendant, she attached it to her new phone.

Bonnie smiled. "This gift is really appropriate." It was reasonably priced, she liked it, and it wouldn't be wasted—a thoughtful gift.

Maeve didn't understand. Waving her new phone, she said, "Your gift is perfect."

"I like that. Let's go, I'll treat you to a feast!"

Mapledeca.

In the sunflower room, Gale read a newspaper in his wheelchair, as lazy as a basking tiger. He exuded no aggression, yet intimidated.

Zephyr stood nearby, saying humbly, "Gale, I'm back."

"I know. What are your thoughts?" Gale asked casually.

"Gale, I don't think this involves the Morris family. Someone sowed discord, choosing that time to make us hate the Morris family," Zephyr speculated.

"Yes, that makes sense. Handle it yourself," Gale said.

Zephyr lowered his head. "A kind person reminded me; I wasn't careful enough. Please punish me, Gale."

Gale looked up. Zephyr's serious demeanor seemed etched, polished; he wouldn't hurt anyone, and few could hurt him. But no one truly knew him. Gale wondered if bringing Zephyr back and giving him such responsibility was right.

Hiding his thoughts, Gale touched his forehead. "I'll punish you to cook for a week."

"Gale, I…" Zephyr looked embarrassed. "I'm not good at cooking."

"That's why I asked you to. Otherwise, what kind of punishment would it be?"

Zephyr was silent. "Gale, did you do it on purpose?"

Gale admitted, "I did. Don't go back on your word."

Zephyr's eyes condemned Gale's humor. Perhaps it was Zephyr's seriousness; Gale often asked him to do things out of character, judging him from the side, a Soar family custom.

Gale patted Zephyr's arm. "You're young. Don't look like an old man. You won't find a girlfriend like this."
