Chapter 500
"Molly, did you ask just now? Have the documents arrived?" The secretary-general rushed into the office and asked Molly, who was standing there in a daze. Molly suddenly came to her senses and ran out without answering.
A meeting was underway in the conference room. The atmosphere was tense due to the seriousness of the discussion. When the discussion paused, the silence was profound.
The sound of the door opening drew everyone's attention. Molly's heart pounded. She looked at the cold-looking Byron at the head of the table and blurted out, before Archer could reprimand her, "Mr. McDaniel, Damian just called. Something happened to your children on their way to the company. We can't contact them!"
Byron stood abruptly, his eyes instantly cold and sharp. "Meeting adjourned," he declared, striding out. Archer followed closely behind, but paused to glance at Molly as he passed.
While the McDaniel Group frantically searched for Maeve, she gradually awoke from her long coma. Pressing her faintly aching temples, the events preceding her collapse flashed through her mind. A wild dog had darted out, blocking the road. The driver had exited the car to investigate, only to be restrained. Then…
'Where are Will and Theo?' Maeve was shocked. She looked around and found them leaning against her, unconscious but without obvious injuries. Relief washed over her, only to be quickly replaced by anxiety. If she had known this would happen, she wouldn't have brought them.
Hearing footsteps, Maeve closed her eyes, feigning unconsciousness.
"Chief, what should we do with these three? The employer only wanted the woman; he didn't mention these brats."
"They're tied up. We can't send them back. After we're done, we'll sell these kids overseas and make another fortune."
Maeve clenched her fists, suppressing her rage.
"Chief, I've brought him." His accomplice dragged in a man in designer clothes, throwing him to the ground. He placed his hand on the floor, attempting to rise, but the drugs in his system weakened him. The kidnapper's eyes were filled with hatred as he stepped on Alexis's hand. "For a few days, you've become disheveled. Your fans will be heartbroken."
Alexis lay on the floor. A wound on his forehead bled onto his exquisite eyebrows. His light-colored eyes were cold and hard.
"You kidnapped me for money?" Alexis's clear voice was pleasing.
"I don't care about your money. I want your life. I have a grudge against you." Alexis's tone was calm, devoid of panic or fear.
The kidnapper leader kicked Alexis in the chest. A flicker of pleasure crossed his eyes at Alexis's groan. "Looks like you have a bad memory. I need to remind you." He kicked him again. "Half a year ago, my sister went to your company to see you. She waited all day for your autograph. You ignored her and forced her to jump off a building!"
"You celebrities are nothing! It's her honor to be your fan. How dare you humiliate her and force her to death! You'll pay with your life!"
Maeve winced at the sounds of Alexis's beating. Her palms grew sweaty. Alexis remained silent except for a snort, no matter how brutally he was attacked.
After the leader finished, Alexis rasped, "Your sister was depressed. She decided to jump the day she met me. As her brother, you didn't care about her. Why pretend now?"
Maeve was shocked. "This guy is bold. Isn't he afraid of being killed?"
Alexis wasn't afraid. 'It's just my life. What am I afraid of? Do these bastards deserve to see me cry and beg? Dream on.'
The kidnapper leader raged, attacking even more ruthlessly. Maeve feared Alexis would be beaten to death.
"Mommy," Theo mumbled, waking up. "Help me push the robot over."
Maeve opened her eyes slightly. Theo's robot lay at his feet. She nudged it with her foot.
"What are you doing?" A kidnapper shouted. Maeve's leg moved again, and Will used the opportunity to hit the robot's switch.
The robot's eyes turned blue. Its body expanded.
The kidnappers lunged, but a nearly six-and-a-half-foot robot blocked their way.
Theo shouted, "Baymax, tie them up. I want them alive!"
Baymax emitted electric sounds. Its arms swung out, wrapping around the kidnappers, tightening.
"What the fuck is this? Ouch!"
"What are you shouting for!" The leader turned, throwing a punch. His hand cracked.
Baymax lifted him, its arms tightening until he fainted. Baymax then diligently tied up the kidnappers.
Maeve cut her bonds and untied the children. She went to Alexis.
"Sir, are you alright?" She smelled blood. She offered to help him up, but he waved her away.
"I can do it myself," he said, painfully standing, panting heavily. His silk shirt was drenched in blood, obscuring his features.
