After taking a moment to calm down, Johnathan called Mateo. “Check for me—has anyone attacked my cloud?”

“…Got it.”

Mateo didn’t even ask why. He got to work immediately. A few minutes later, he replied, “No signs of an attack.”

“What’s wrong? Did something get stolen? Want me to help you find it? Fair warning, it’s not gonna be free!” Mateo joked. He’d been waiting for a chance to make Johnathan owe him a favor. But before he could enjoy it, the line went dead. Johnathan had hung up.

Johnathan decided to hide the situation with Quinn for now—not because he didn’t have evidence yet, but because he hadn’t wanted to believe Quinn would do something like that. Thinking about how Sierra had almost gotten hurt—possibly because of Quinn—made Johnathan’s chest tighten. The most ridiculous part was, Sierra was still trying her hardest to save Quinn and her daughter.

Johnathan had spent the entire day trying to figure out Quinn’s motive but couldn’t. Her blood contamination had been real—he had tested it himself. So did she know what was happening to her? Or had someone forced her?
