Chapter 386 The Moment Everything Changed
Stone nodded. โThe doctor was an imposter. The real one was knocked out in his office. Same with the nurseโshe was left unconscious in the hospital room.โ
โSo we were right. Thereโs an organization behind Quinn,โ Johnathan said as he turned off the footage.
โThe police have already issued a warrant. Weโre doing what we can to capture her. But you and Sierra need to be careful,โ Stone warned.
Though he hadnโt interrogated Quinn himself, heโd heard enough to know she was dangerously calculating.
And since Johnathan was the reason sheโd been caught, Stone feared she might go after him in revenge.
But Johnathan wasnโt worried about himself.
What he truly fearedโฆ was something happening to Sierra.
After wrapping up with Stone, he got in the car and headed toward Sierraโs campus. On the way, he received a call from Chase.
โJohnathan, I heard Quinn escaped. Whatโs going on?โ
Johnathanโs expression shifted. Since when did Chase care so much about Quinn?
She was arrested days ago and Chase hadnโt made a single call.
โIf youโve got something to say, just say it. Stop beating around the bush,โ Johnathan snapped impatiently.
There was a pause on the other end before Chase finally said, โWeโve come to a decision. Jose will go abroad. He wonโt be coming back.โ
Johnathan frowned. This again.
He didnโt want to hear any more about it and hung up on the spot.
But that call made his decision clear: he had to find out what Chase and the others were hiding from him.
Why had they all reacted with such panic at the idea of him leaving the Wynn family?
Determined, he called someone he trustedโsomeone who was excellent at digging into the past. He wanted answers. Real ones.
The call rang for a long time before connecting.
โHey,โ Johnathan said as he drove, โI need a favor. I want you to look into my parentsโ past. Yeah, I know itโs been years. If it were easy, I wouldnโt be calling you. Just find whatever you can. And also-โ
Before he could finish, someone suddenly darted into the road.
Johnathan slammed the brakesโbut immediately knew something was wrong.
The brakes werenโt working.
He was headed straight toward them. In a split second, he saw who it wasโan elderly man and a child.
And somehow, instinct took over.
Johnathan swerved.
The move shocked even him. He wasnโt the type to risk himself for others. In the past, he wouldโve stayed the course and let fate decide.
The impact as he crashed into a parked car was violentโbut in that moment, one thought echoed in his mind:
Sierra has changed meโฆ more than I ever realized.

Back at the lab, Sierra felt uneasy.
Her heart was racing, and she kept losing focus. When she grabbed the wrong reagent for the third time, Azure finally spoke up.
โHey. Are you feeling okay? If youโre not well, take a break.โ
Autumn nodded. โYeah, you donโt look great. Go rest.โ
โSeriously, we can handle things for a bit,โ Erwin chimed in awkwardly.
Sierra nodded and stepped out. Instinctively, she reached for her phone to call Johnathanโbut when she turned on the screen, she froze.
Over a dozen missed callsโfrom Mateo, Stone, and others.
Her stomach dropped.
She immediately called Mateo back, and the moment the call connected, his anxious voice came through the speaker.
โSierra, finally! Johnathanโs been in an accident!โ
The world went silent.
It felt like her mind exploded.
She didnโt even bother changing out of her lab coat. She just ran.
Johnathanโs two bodyguards were waiting downstairs. When they saw her panic, they rushed after her.
โMs. Sierra?โ
They tried to calm her down, but she couldnโt. Her thoughts were a mess.
She barely managed to tell them where she needed to go.
The car ride was torturous. Every second crawled by.
She never imagined something like this would happen to Johnathan.
Mateo had said a lot over the phoneโbut she hadnโt heard any of it.
By the time the car pulled up to the hospital, she bolted from the vehicle and sprinted to the emergency room doors.
Mateo and the others were already there. Chase was too. Even Wayne had arrived.
If sheโd looked closely, she mightโve recognized Wayneโhe was the old gentleman sheโd once met at Dicksonโs school.
But Sierra didnโt notice anything.
The only thing she could see was the closed door of the emergency room.
She had no idea how pale she looked.
Her entire body was trembling.
