Chapter 416 Tension and Show Time

The grandfather and grandson chatted for a while longer, but once Johnathan began showing signs of impatience, Wayne finally let him go.

โ€œIโ€™ll have a security team escort you both tomorrow.โ€

The Wynn familyโ€™s security forces werenโ€™t to be underestimatedโ€“even He Chenzhou admitted as much.

And with that kind of backup, Johnathan wasnโ€™t about to say no.

โ€œThank you, Grandpa.โ€

โ€œGo on, then.โ€ Wayne waved him off.

By the time Johnathan returned, Sierra had already finished her shower and was reading on the couch.

โ€œReady?โ€ he asked, raising an eyebrow when he saw she wasnโ€™t reading a technical journal, but a psychology book instead.

โ€œThereโ€™s nothing left to prepare.โ€

She already had everything down pat. After all the groundwork sheโ€™d done, there was no need to cram.

Johnathan admired her quiet confidenceโ€“it was one of the things he loved most about her. He began to feel a bit restless, his gaze growing more heated.

Theyโ€™d been together long enough for Sierra to immediately understand what that look meant. She shot him down on the spot.

โ€œMr. Yaeger, donโ€™t you dare. Your ribs canโ€™t handle it.โ€

โ€œDamn it.โ€

Johnathan swore under his breath. He was sure heโ€™d recovered, but Sierra was a strict enforcer of the doctorโ€™s ordersโ€“and had even insisted he keep using the wheelchair.

Since the accident, all he could do was look, not touch. It was driving him crazy.

Sierra couldnโ€™t help but laugh at the sight of his stormy expression. Who wouldโ€™ve thought Mr. Yaeger, cold and serious on the outside, had such a high libido? His fanboys and fangirls would be stunned.

Catching her amused look, Johnathan scowled and headed for the bathroom.

Sierra hesitated as she listened to the sound of running waterโ€“then, face burning, she followed him in.

The next morning, Johnathan looked like a completely different person: refreshed and energized.

Wayne couldnโ€™t help but give him a few extra glances. โ€œWhatโ€™s gotten into you? You look unusually happy.โ€

โ€œGetting to spend more time with you, Grandpaโ€“how could I not be happy?โ€

Johnathan actually cracked a joke. Wayne knew it was nonsense, but it still put him in a good mood. Heโ€™d only assigned one security team originally, but now he decided to send another.

Watching the extra vehicles roll in, Sierra muttered, โ€œIsnโ€™t this a bit too much? Itโ€™s going to draw attention.โ€

โ€œRelax. You wonโ€™t even see them in a minute.โ€

Sure enough, once they left the estate, the cars vanishedโ€“hidden in discreet, out-of-sight positions. If Sierra hadnโ€™t seen them driving behind her, she never wouldโ€™ve known they were there.

โ€œStealth and tracking are basic protocol,โ€ Johnathan explained.

Sierra nodded, once again impressed by the Wynn familyโ€™s capabilities.

Today was the final day of the summit. Far from tapering off, attendance had grown. Not only were top academics present, but large crowds of students had come as well. It was effectively an open house.

Because of this, security was tighter than ever. SWAT officers were posted around the venue, He Chenzhou had his people stationed in the shadows, and Johnathanโ€™s men were also in place.

With this level of protection, nothing should go wrongโ€“or so Sierra hoped.

Today, she also ran into White again.

His eyes lit up the moment he spotted her, and he immediately came over.

Unlike his excitement, Sierra looked pained to see him.

โ€œYou look beautiful today!โ€

โ€œThank you,โ€ Sierra replied politely, offering a small smile.

When she didnโ€™t engage further, White turned to Johnathan. His gaze lingered on Johnathanโ€™s legs before he said,

โ€œDid your nerves suffer permanent damage? One of my companies makes prostheticsโ€“excellent mobility. If youโ€™re interested, I can have one custom-made.โ€

Both Sierra and Johnathan were taken aback. White had always rubbed Johnathan the wrong wayโ€“since when was he this helpful?

White scoffed and added with a haughty tilt of his chin, โ€œItโ€™s not for your sake. Iโ€™m only doing this for Xiao.โ€

You had to admitโ€“when it came to understanding their culture, White had done his homework.

Sierra didnโ€™t know whether to laugh or cry. Honestly, she thought White and Mateo would make great friendsโ€“both had the same chaotic energy. Too bad they acted like roosters in a pit whenever they met.

Mateo was there today too, and when he spotted White, his expression soured immediately.

As for Johnathan, he clearly had no interest in any prosthetics. Something else crossed his mind, and he asked, โ€œYouโ€™ve invested in tech companies?โ€

โ€œOf course,โ€ White replied casually and named one.

Mateo let out a dry chuckle. โ€œSorry, I only keep up with major companies.โ€
