Chapter 119: You Are Not Worthy

As soon as Zayne finished shouting, the door burst open, and Xavier entered. Zayne broke into a cold sweat. โ€œThe things I just said were so disrespectful! What if he heard everything?โ€ he thought.

โ€œM-Mr. Jenningsโ€ฆโ€ Zayne trembled uncontrollably. He offered Xavier a chair. โ€œMr. Jennings, please have a seat.โ€

Xavier sat slowly, then asked, โ€œMr. Carlson, I believe I heard you claim to be the most powerful person in sales. Did I mishear?โ€

Zayne, stunned, quickly recovered. โ€œMr. Jennings, I was talking nonsense. Everyone knows you have the final say. Jaredโ€™s simply unfamiliar with how things work here. I was merely teaching him a lesson.โ€

Xavierโ€™s lips curved into a smile. โ€œWell, as long as you know whoโ€™s boss.โ€ He gestured for everyone to sit. โ€œHave a seat, everyone.โ€

As everyone sat, Jared moved to sit beside Xavier. Aware of Xavierโ€™s intent, Jared was sizing him up.

This annoyed Zayne. โ€œHey, Jared, know your place! Do you think you have the right to sit there?โ€ Zayne coveted the seat next to Xavier, hoping to curry favor for a promotion, and Jared had ruined his chance.

The others glared at Jared, a newcomer. They felt Zayne and Maria deserved the seat more.

Jared sneered. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Why canโ€™t I sit here? What right do you have to tell me where to sit?โ€

Lydia fumed. โ€œJared, stop playing dumb. Youโ€™re doing this on purpose! Trying to curry favor? Youโ€™re a newcomer! That seatโ€™s for Mr. Carlson!โ€

The room erupted in criticism, accusing Jared of brown-nosing. They felt seniority dictated promotion.

Jared contemptuously glanced at them. โ€œDonโ€™t project your intentions onto me! I donโ€™t care about you bootlickers. I choose where I sit. Donโ€™t tell me otherwise!โ€

Turning to Xavier, he asked sarcastically, โ€œMr. Jennings, am I not worthy of sitting next to you?โ€ Come on, if you dare to play tricks on me, I swear Iโ€™ll make you pay.

The others were petrified by Jaredโ€™s disrespect. Hilda worried for him.

โ€œJared! Watch your tone when you speak to Mr. Jennings!โ€

โ€œGet over yourself, Jared! Of course, youโ€™re not worthy!โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t take advantage of Mr. Jenningsโ€™ friendliness. Get up, Jared!โ€ (The sentence "Sแด‡aส€แด„h the FษชndNรธvel.nแด‡t website on Gรธรธglแด‡ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality." has been removed as it is an advertisement.)*

The room buzzed with discontent. Zayne feared Jared had angered Xavier. โ€œMr. Jennings, ignore him. Somethingโ€™s wrong with his head. Donโ€™t be mad, Mr. Jennings.โ€

Xavier smiled faintly. โ€œItโ€™s alright. Let him sit.โ€ He turned to Jared, his gaze dark. โ€œItโ€™s good that youngsters are bold sometimes. But be careful; that attitude might get you hurt one day.โ€
