Chapter 157: Consider My Request

Hilda nodded.

"Why did you and Lincoln break up? He's rich and handsome. Didn't you love him?"

"I" She was speechless, sensing his gloating.

Jeffrey's smile widened. "Why are you here? Is something wrong?"

"I'm a sales representative at Sentiment Chemical Limited. My company wants to collaborate with yours; I hope you can help," she replied.

Jeffrey chuckled. "Do you know how much our contracts are worth? At least ten million each. A sales representative wants to secure a collaboration with Cosmic Chemical? Is this a joke?"

"I know collaborations with Cosmic Chemical are difficult, which is why I'm here. You're an administrator; you must have connections. Please help me. I won't forget your kindness," Hilda pleaded.

I must secure this contract. Otherwise, Zayne will fire Jared.

He burst into laughter at her pleading look. His crazed expression frightened her.

"Are you begging me, Hilda? Remember how you treated me when I pursued you? You only had eyes for Lincoln. I was a nobody. And now you're pleading for my help?"

He vented years of suppressed anger. "Honestly, one word from me secures this collaborationโ€”the managers do as I say. But why should I help you?"

Hilda felt awkward. She hadn't liked him then; she'd ignored him. Now she was begging.

If not for Jared, I'd have walked away. I wouldn't have come to see Jeffrey!

"I admit I was wrong. I shouldn't have ignored you." She lowered her head, humbling herself.

To secure the contract, I'd even kneel before him.

Jeffrey was satisfied with her pathetic appearance. He'd called her in to vent his frustration.

"I won't make it difficult, Hilda. Considering we were schoolmates and I liked youagree to sleep with me for one night, and I'll get you a manager to sign the contract."

Lust gleamed in Jeffrey's eyes.

Hilda was stunned. "How could you, Jeffrey?" She was furious.

"Then there's nothing to discuss. Leave," Jeffrey sneered.

Though she wanted to slam the door, she thought of Jared. She stared at him imploringly. "C-Could you make a different request, Jeffrey? I can grovel and do anything you say!"

"I have only one request. If you disagree, there's no point negotiating. I'll give you ten minutes. After that, your pleas are meaningless."

Jeffrey left, leaving Hilda rooted to the spot.
