Chapter 232: Gifts of Sincerity

Leyton approached Jared, saying courteously, "Mr. Chance, I came as soon as I learned you were looking for me."

Except for Sandy, everyone's jaw dropped. Why was the Scott family heir speaking to Jared as if he were a VIP? Weren't they rivals?

Jared surveyed the stunned onlookers before scoffing. He pointed at Leroy and said, "I hear the Scotts have dealings with him."

Leyton glanced at Leroy, his gaze lingering on the latter's swollen cheek. He seemed to understand Jared's unspoken implication. "Mr. Chance," Leyton replied, "we've outsourced portions of two property development projects to him. However, we're ending our partnership. I'll conduct rigorous inspections. Any unsatisfactory work will result in commission deductions and legal action for damages."

Jared nodded slightly, secretly impressed by Leyton's quick thinking.

Leroy was taken aback. "Mr. Scott, what's the meaning of this? Our collaboration—"

"Our collaboration is dissolved," Leyton interrupted coldly, glaring at Leroy. "Your commission is on hold. You're responsible for any damages resulting from the termination. Understood?"

Leyton had run out of patience after waiting on Jared.

Leroy stammered, bewildered. "This…"

Jared stood, patting Leyton on the shoulder. "Your actions today saved your life, but it won't save the Scott family. I won't let them off easily. This is the most I can do for you. More horrors await them."

Jared's casual threat instantly paled Leyton, who immediately knelt, begging, "Mr. Chance, to save the Scott family, we pledge our service and loyalty. As a show of sincerity, we'll transfer ownership of our two property development companies to you!"

He produced two contracts. Leyton's preparedness revealed he was more than a rich playboy. He aimed to demonstrate subservience and eliminate himself as a future threat. Walter and Tommy's presence had previously hindered his plans; this reunion provided the perfect opportunity.

Jared was surprised. The Scott family's wealth and reputation stemmed from real estate. Transferring their companies would significantly diminish their Horington influence. However, they remained wealthy enough to live comfortably. Securing Jared's mercy was paramount.

Jared accepted the contracts, much to Leyton's relief. If he accepts, our family might escape this mess! he thought.

"Very well," Jared said. "I'll spare the Scott family, given your sincere offer."

Jared signed the contracts, securing the Scotts' safety. He desperately needed the funds from their companies. Josephine's herbs had cost millions—a necessary expense given the weak spiritual energy on Dragon Summit and dwindling resources at Starry Compass. He needed to craft elixirs to accelerate his cultivation, reaching Foundation Phase before mid-July to qualify for Nameless Island. Relying solely on weak spiritual energy would take far too long.
