Chapter 249: No One Is Allowed to Move
Back at the Lowe residence, Glen awoke from a nap, his eyes fixed on the ceiling with a vacant stare. Seconds later, he rose, donned his coat, and exited with a stiff gait.
Helen, cleaning the living room, witnessed his departure. Puzzled, she asked, "Glen, what's wrong? Why did you wake up so suddenly?"
He ignored her and left the house. "Why isn't he answering me?" Helen muttered, but continued her chores.
Glen drove away. Tommy, seeing him leave, urgently nudged Jared. "Mr. Chance! He's gone!"
Jared sat up, observing Glen. Understanding immediately, he commanded, "Follow him!"
Tommy pursued Glen, whose car eventually stopped at a remote inn. "What's he doing there?" Tommy asked.
Jared, glancing at the dilapidated inn, remained silent. He exited the car and watched Glen enter. He then instructed Tommy, "Order your men to surround the inn. No one is allowed to leave."
Tommy relayed the order to his subordinates: "Mr. Chance's orders: surround the inn, and let no one escape. Failure means death!"
The Templar Regiment immediately surrounded the inn. Jared and Tommy entered.
Upstairs, Glen stood like a puppet, his eyes lifeless. Nicholas and two businessmen laughed.
"Hahaha! What a useless mayor! Our pawn!" The portly businessman slapped Glen's face. The thin businessman added, "Who knew Horington's mayor would become our puppet? Horington is ours!"
"Hurry, get him to sign the contract!" Nicholas urged.
The thin businessman presented the contract and pen. Glen signed and affixed his seal.
"It's a done deal! Hahaha!" The businessmen celebrated. Nicholas smirked. "Gentlemen, about my payment"
"Of course!" The portly businessman transferred fifty million to Nicholas's account. Nicholas beamed.
Suddenly, Tommy burst through the door, broadsword drawn, Jared close behind. "Get down! No one moves!" Tommy roared. The menacing display made the businessmen believe they were being robbed.
