Chapter 277: Undeserving
Steven remained silent. He'd spent hundreds of millions to become Francis's disciple, albeit a relatively insignificant one. Lacking strong ties, he was easily expendable, unlike the four favored disciples standing before him.
"Mr. Chance, I sent Steven flying with one punch. How am I no match for this guy?" Tommy incredulously denied his inferiority to Carter.
"Try fighting him if you doubt me," Jared casually remarked with a smile. A little defeat wouldn't hurt Tommy; otherwise, the enhancement pill might make him overconfident, which wouldn't serve him well in the future.
"All right. Watch me, Mr. Chance!"
Tommy lunged at Carter, his fist drawn back. The punch packed a force equivalent to five hundred poundsโenough to flatten anyone on the receiving end. However, Carter dodged the blow and reappeared at Tommy's side.
Tommy's eyes widened in shock. He spun around, delivering another punch. Carter sneered, raised his leg, and landed a kick to Tommy's midriff, sending him staggering. Terror gripped Tommy, but Carter showed no mercy. (Remove the promotional sentence here)
As Tommy struggled to regain his balance, he managed a desperate punch to Carter's temple. But Tommy was still reeling; even seeing Carter's counter-punch, he was too slow to defend.
Jared's expression hardened, a murderous glint in his eyes. Carter was clearly aiming to kill, and Jared wouldn't stand for it.
Whoosh!
Jared flicked a shirt button, sending it toward Carter like a bullet. The sound of it whistling past his ear sent Carter reeling back. He dodged, but Tommy used the distraction to escape.
"Brat, you dare sneak up on me?"
Carter, enraged, charged at Jared.
"You talk too much."
Jared narrowed his eyes and slammed his fist into Carter's abdomen. A loud thud echoed as Carter felt searing pain. He tasted blood, trying to suppress the urge to vomit, but a mouthful of blood, mixed with fragments of his organs, erupted. Horror struck Carter as he tried to speak, but blood choked him.
Thud!
Carter collapsed, the light fading from his eyes. Tommy, his earlier arrogance replaced by a haggard look, gulped at the brutal scene.
"Carter!"
Francis rushed to his fallen disciple, grief etched on his face.
"You dare kill my disciple! I'll tear you apart!" the old man snarled, glaring venomously at Jared.
"So only your disciples can kill, but not mine? How domineering," Jared taunted, ignoring the threat.
"Brat, your arrogance is understandable given your mastery of internal energy at such a young age. But know this: there's always someone stronger. Become my disciple, and I'll let this matterโ"
"Look in a mirror, old man. You're unworthy to be my mentor," Jared interrupted, spitting at Francis.
