Chapter 318: Followed

After cleaning up the mess, Jared left the room and found Tommy waiting outside.

"Mr. Chance, Zeke's here with the herbs you requested. We were waiting for you to have dinner together," Tommy said.

"All right. Let's go!"

Jared was surprised Zeke had gathered the herbs in less than a day. He needed them to craft one hundred revitalizing pills.

Downstairs, Jared saw Zeke supervising his employees unloading a truckload of herbs, which were then moved upstairs.

"Jared, I've prepared the herbs as instructed and reserved two rooms on your floor to store them," Zeke reported.

"Okay, it won't take long. I should finish crafting the pills in about a day," Jared replied with a curt nod.

Zeke grinned. "Let's go. I'll take you to try Yeringham's signature dishes. Frida and the others are waiting!" He clearly no longer feared Jared and Tommy.

"Let's go!" Jared replied, smiling.

The food street was nearby, so they walked. After a while, Jared furrowed his brow.

"Mr. Chance, did you sense something?" Tommy asked quietly.

"Yes. Someone's following us," Jared answered.

"What? Who?" Zeke exclaimed, turning but Jared stopped him.

"Don't turn around!" Jared warned.

"Mr. Chance, let me handle them!" Tommy offered, a murderous glint in his eyes.

"They're highly skilled; you might not be a match. Let's ignore them."

Jared stalked forward, turning from the food street into a secluded alley. Five men immediately appeared behind them. Their leader was Alfred, the Whitaker family's butler.

The old man watched intently.

"Alfred, should we follow them?" a man asked.

"Let's go. They must have discovered us and want to lure us in!" Alfred declared, a murderous aura surrounding him. "Let's see how capable they are!"

He led the four other Whitaker family experts into the alley, where they found Jared, Tommy, and Zeke waiting.

"Are you from the Whitaker family?" Jared asked calmly.

"Young man, you're bold, staying after discovering our affiliation," Alfred sneered. "How dare you break Mr. Whitaker's leg? Your boldness won't save you!"

"The Whitaker family? The Summerbank Whitakers?" Zeke asked nervously.

"Yes!" Jared nodded.

Zeke staggered, nearly falling. Everyone in Jazona knew the influential Summerbank Whitakers. He couldn't believe Jared had broken Tyrion Whitaker's legs. Tommy was powerful in Horington, but insignificant compared to the Whitakers.

Alfred smirked at Zeke's fear. "I'm here on the head of the family's orders to capture you. Resist, and you die. Those uninvolved should stay out of this!"
