Chapter 40: Bumping Into His Former Girlfriend

Jared chuckled, waiting for Josephine. Many women, upon seeing him, turned back for another look. Several even approached him for his contact information, but he refused them all.

Coincidentally, Sandy and Juliette were shopping on the other side of the mall. Still fuming from a recent reprimand, Sandy planned a shopping spree to cheer herself up.

"Quick, look, Sandy! A handsome man is standing over there! Even his back is mesmerizing!" Juliette exclaimed excitedly.

Sandy looked up and saw a tall man in a suit. "Could he just be well-built but unattractive?" she whispered.

"No way! He's definitely handsome! You have Mr. Scott, so leave this gorgeous man to me!" Juliette replied, rushing over. Sandy, curious, followed.

"Are you waiting for someone, handsome?" Juliette asked, tapping the man's shoulder.

The moment he turned, both women were stunned.

"J-Jared? Why are you here?" Juliette gasped.

Sandy was equally shocked; she'd never seen this side of Jared, even after years together. Clothes really do make the man! she thought.

"Why not?" Jared sneered, seeing them.

"How can you afford this mall? Things here are incredibly expensive!" Juliette demanded, puzzled. She considered his family background far below average and his clothing impossibly expensive.

"Is this your family's mall? I can shop here anytime I want," Jared retorted, leaving her speechless.

"You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, Jared! You'll never be high-class, no matter how you dress. Buying a fake suit and coming here to pick up women is shameful!" Sandy spat at him.

Before Jared could respond, Josephine arrived. "That's none of your business! Wipe that filth off him!" she commanded, pointing to the spit with a frosty expression.

Unease flickered in Sandy's eyes. Crap! As the daughter of Horington's richest man, I'm nothing compared to her!

Despite her humiliation, Sandy tried to maintain her composure. "You'd better watch your tongue! Don't throw your weight around just because you're a Sullivan!"

"Wipe it off. Are you deaf? If I slapped you, would Leyton even dare avenge you?"

Josephine's intimidating presence visibly affected Sandy, who trembled slightly. She knew Leyton wouldn't risk angering the Sullivans for her.

Jared watched with a sneer.

"I'll do it! I'll wipe it!" Juliette quickly grabbed a tissue and wiped the spit from Jared's clothes.

"Who do you think you are? Touching my boyfriend?" Josephine pushed Juliette away.

Mortified, Juliette remained silent. Even Sandy wouldn't dare offend Josephine.
