Chapter 43: I Am Not Telling You That

Leyton glanced over at Sandy's remark, only to see Jared. His eyes narrowed, and he strode toward him.

Sandy hurriedly followed, glaring at Jared with resentment. The mall incident was still vivid in her memory.

"Do you think you're worthy of being here, Jared?" Leyton sneered. "Are you aware of everyone's status? Do you think new clothes make you elite?"

Jared merely gave him a cold look and ignored him.

"Where's your domineering attitude from the mall, Jared?" Sandy spat. "And where's your beautiful Ms. Sullivan? Couldn't even she get you in? Pah!" She was emboldened by Leyton's presence.

Jared's face turned icy. "Mark my words, you'll be licking that off later."

"Haha!" Sandy laughed, spitting again. "Who do you think you are? You're just an ex-convict! What's so great about you?"

She then shouted, "Everyone, look! An ex-convict at the banquet! He doesn't know his place!"

Many people gathered to watch. Jared remained indifferent.

"Who's that, Leyton? I don't recognize him," a young man asked.

Everyone present was high-ranking in Horington or a family member; they all knew each other or had seen each other before. Jared was a complete stranger, clearly not from the elite circles.

"Oh, him?" Leyton said with a sneer. "My girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. Her lapdog for three years, never even held her hand. I put him in prison for three years. He was released two days ago."

Contemptuous looks were cast Jared's way. The high-status guests shunned him. They quickly distanced themselves, whispering amongst themselves. Jared remained calm and unperturbed.

Seeing his lack of reaction, Sandy sneered, "You've gotten shameless since prison! Still dare to stay after this?"

Just then, Josephine returned. Seeing Sandy and Leyton, she frowned. "What are you two doing here?"

"Attending the banquet, naturally!" Sandy declared proudly, emboldened by Leyton's presence.

Josephine laughed. "Attending? Why are you still here then? Don't you have invitations?"

Sandy was speechless; they didn't have invitations and couldn't get in.

Josephine smiled, took Jared's hand, and said, "Come, let's go in!"

Sandy was startled. "Do you two have invitations?"

"I'm not telling you that!" Josephine retorted smugly.

Sandy felt her blood pressure rising. Seeing them head toward the back entrance, she realized their plan. "Ley, they're sneaking in! They don't have invitations!"

Leyton, realizing this too, blocked their path. "You can't sneak in! I'll expose you!"

Josephine eyed him incredulously. "Are you stupid, Leyton? The Glamor Hotel is my family's property. I can enter wherever I want! Even if I jumped through a window!"

Leyton was speechless.

"Keep an eye on them. Kick them out if they try to sneak in!" Josephine ordered the security guards.

"Yes, Ms. Sullivan!"

The guards watched Sandy and Leyton. Josephine and Jared entered through the back. Leyton and Sandy watched, seething with rage.
