Chapter 100
"Call the police, then!" Bruce sneered.
Joanna's beautiful face hardened. Calling the police was out of the question. Her work was paramount, and any negative publicity would severely damage the Haynes Group.
"Please, Bruce, I beg you!" she pleaded. "Stop disrupting the Haynes Group…"
Bruce cut her off. "How have I disrupted the company? I haven't even mentioned your market manipulation! You dare accuse me of disrupting the company's order? I'm a director! Can't I come to the office?"
Joanna took a deep breath. "What are you even doing here? You're not involved in management. You're here for fun!"
Bruce raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Hey, you're right! I'm here for fun! I gave you two big deals. Shouldn't you keep me happy? Shouldn't you try to please me?"
"Hmph, you're shameless!" Joanna retorted angrily. "I earned those deals myself. You had nothing to do with them!"
Bruce lit a cigarette and took a slow drag. "Women are persuasive; they control men." His eyes gleamed with a hint of playful provocation as he watched Joanna's frustration mount. He enjoyed seeing her anger.
Joanna's face flushed; her body trembled with rage. The smoke made her cough twice.
"Don't smoke in my office," she said.
Startled by her coughing fit, Bruce subconsciously extinguished his cigarette.
"Don't forget, I supervise you!" he declared. "From today on, I'll be here every day to supervise your work!"
"What right do you have to supervise me?" Joanna demanded. "Are you the president? Who gave you that authority?" She felt like a bully had invaded her home, wreaking havoc, yet she couldn't afford to offend him.
Bruce smiled, leaning back in his chair, crossing his legs, and placing his feet on the desk with a domineering air. He leisurely read the newspaper.
"Make me a cup of tea," he said.

Joanna was speechless with anger.
"Hurry up," Bruce snapped. "What are you waiting for?" [The promotional material at this point has been removed.]
Joanna took a deep breath and left. She would make the tea.
In the pantry, she prepared a cup of black tea, but added some dirty water from the sink.
She placed the tea in front of Bruce. "Here you go!"
His eyes flickered; a half-smile played on his lips. "So obedient? That's not like you."
"Do you want it?" Joanna asked.
"Forget it," Bruce said. "In ancient times, Wu Dalang was poisoned by his wife. Who knows if history will repeat itself?"
"No poison," Joanna assured him. "If I poisoned you, I'd be risking my life. It's not worth it for a man like you!"
Bruce sneered, sniffing the tea. The strange odor was enough to deter him. He set the cup aside.
"Okay, okay," he said. "If it's not worth it, it's not worth it. Women forget men's kindness after they're satisfied!"
"Bruce, stop the nonsense…" Joanna began, then stopped. Why bother arguing? she thought. "Forget it. Say whatever you want."
She turned to leave.
Bruce sat up straight. "Where are you going?"
"How am I supposed to work with you occupying my office?"
"You're not going anywhere," he said. "Work here. Don't leave my sight!"
Joanna laughed angrily. "Bruce, are you sick?"
"Yes, I am," he said, smirking. "You're my cure!"
"Psychopath!" she cursed, turning to leave.
"Try taking another step!" His voice turned serious.
Joanna froze. If she provoked him further, he might resort to violence again.
"What do you want?" she asked.
"Work under my supervision," he said. "Leave my sight, and you'll face the consequences."
Chapter 100
Joanna swallowed her anger, moving her documents and computer to the coffee table. She had work to do and no time for arguments.
As she put on her glasses, her phone vibrated. It was Jaydon.
She muted her phone and stood, unwilling to answer it in front of Bruce.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"Can I take the call outside?"
"Take it here," he said.
"Bruce, you're so annoying!" she exclaimed. "Stop being so overbearing!"
"No, I can't," he sneered.
"Fine, I won't answer," she said, hanging up angrily.
Jaydon called repeatedly, but Joanna ignored him.
It was almost noon. Jaydon arrived in person. Cora greeted him enthusiastically. Other staff members also greeted Jaydon. He brought Starbucks coffee and cakes, offering them to the staff. However, a sense of foreboding hung in the air; another conflict seemed imminent.
"Where's Joanna?" Jaydon asked.
Cora hesitated. "Miss Haynes is in her office."
"She's busy?" Jaydon said. "I called several times."
Cora hesitated, clearly wanting to say something.
"I'll go find her," Jaydon said.
Cora stopped him. "Mr. Grimm, please wait!"
"What's wrong?"
"It's not a good time to go in now," she said.
Chapter 100
Jaydon looked confused. Cora knew about his relationship with Joanna; he often visited her office freely.
"I'll report to Miss Haynes first," Cora said.
"Alright," Jaydon replied.
"Please wait in the reception area," Cora said.
Cora knocked loudly on Joanna's door.
"Come in!"
Cora entered with files. "Miss Haynes, a client is here."
