Chapter 107
"Bruce"
"Hurry up," Bruce said.
Roxanne had no choice but to get up and leave the restaurant with him. Back in the car, Bruce remained silent, starting the ignition as soon as Roxanne fastened her seatbelt.
As they left the parking lot, they saw a silver Bentley approaching. A sudden shock went through Bruce upon seeing what he suspected was Joanna's car. He glanced at the license plate; it was hers. He assumed she was also dining there.
This made him displeased; he suspected Joanna had a date. It was unusual for someone to dine alone at such a high-end restaurant.
"Roxy, I have something to do. I can't drive you back," Bruce said, braking abruptly and pulling over. "Please take a taxi."
Roxanne, jolted by the sudden stop, looked at him in shock. "Bruce"
Bruce looked uncomfortable. "Um, why don't I call Andy to pick you up?"
"Bruce, why the rush?" Roxanne asked. "What are you going to do?"
"I suddenly remembered something very important that needs immediate attention," Bruce said. "Get out of the car!"
Roxanne, furious, turned red. She'd never been treated so coldly.
"Bruce, what's more urgent than us?" she demanded, stiffening and refusing to leave. "I'm not getting out!"
Bruce frowned, making a decision. "Drive yourself back, then!" He threw the car keys to Roxanne, exited the vehicle, and left without looking back.
"Bruce, Bruce" Roxanne called out, hurriedly getting out of the car, but Bruce was already walking away.
Meanwhile, Joanna had just parked, exited her car, and was about to have dinner with Jaydon—a meal intended as an apology for a recent incident. She was surprised to see Bruce.
After exiting her car, Joanna involuntarily called Jaydon. "Hello, Jay," she said. "Are you here?"
Jaydon was nearby. "Yes," he replied. "I'll be there in five minutes."

"I'll go in first, then," Joanna said. "It's the same seat as last time."
"Alright!" Jaydon replied.
As Joanna hung up, locked her car, and started toward the restaurant, a tall figure blocked her path. Startled, she stopped and stepped back when she saw who it was.
"Bruce, why are you here?" Joanna asked.
Bruce frowned, looking inside her car. It was empty.
"Who's your dinner date?" he asked.
Joanna was speechless, her eyes widening.
"Aren't you being too nosy?" she said. "Can't I have dinner with someone?"
Bruce's face was displeased. "Man or woman? Is it Jaydon?"
Joanna felt anxious. She took a deep breath and looked at him irritably. "Mr. Everett, you're strange! Does it matter who I'm having dinner with?"
"Of course it does!" Bruce said. "Man or woman?"
Joanna, exasperated, cursed. "You're crazy!"
"Stop," Bruce said.
"Bruce, don't bother me!" Joanna protested. "You can have dinner with anyone, but I can't?"
Bruce grabbed her arm, pulling her close. "Yes. If you want to eat out, it's with me!"
This infuriated Joanna. She struggled to break free. "I don't want to talk to you. I'm not your slave, or your girlfriend. You have no right to demand this!"
Bruce held her tightly, angry. "It seems you ignored everything I said this morning!"
"Hmph, Bruce, I hate you," Joanna said. "I really hate you!" She struggled violently, breaking free and running toward the parking lot exit.
"Stop!" Bruce shouted, catching up to stop her again.
Joanna sighed. "I'm not eating. Can I go home?" She turned and walked toward her car.
Bruce followed, sneering. "Sure, I'll go home with you!"
"Are you crazy?" Joanna asked. "Who are you to me? Why would you go home with me?"
Bruce sneered. "Drive me home, since I'm not driving."
"Can't you call your assistant or driver?" Joanna asked.
