Chapter 120

"Dad, this is serious. It could be a criminal case. Ask Derick to send Irvin back if he took him. Otherwise"

Before Shaun could hear Joanna finish, Ingrid snatched the phone. She cursed, "Bitch, don't you dare wrong Rick! Your son is lost; blame yourself for not looking after him. Don't blame others! If you slander my son again, I'll sue you! You deserve to lose your son! This is God's punishment!"

With a loud Pomp, Ingrid hung up.

"Hello? Hello?" Joanna took a deep breath, fighting back tears. "I need to stay calm to think," she muttered.

After hanging up, Ingrid continued cursing.

Shaun frowned. "Where's Rick?"

"Who knows? Probably out with some barely-known star," Ingrid replied.

Shaun sighed. "He graduated ages ago! He should get a job! All he does is flirt with actresses."

Ingrid glared. "It's all your good daughter, Joanna's fault! She won't let anyone from the Haynes family into the company. The Haynes Group is her company now! That awful woman! I wish a car would hit and kill her!"

Shaun stood up, exasperated. "Can't you keep your mouth shut?"

Ingrid followed him, continuing her tirade. "Why should I? I can't wait to see Joanna taken down! That cunt! I wish her a wonderful death!"

Shaun paused on the stairs. "Enough. Call Rick. Ask if he's seen Joanna's child. I'm worried it might be him."

Ingrid rolled her eyes, but her expression softened. She called Derick. Her tone immediately changed to a gentle, "Hi, Rick!"

"Mom, what's up?" Derick sounded impatient.

"That bitch Joanna called and asked if you'd seen her damn son. Tell me the truth. Did you see him?"

"What? Why would I have seen Joanna's son?"

"Really?" Ingrid pressed.

"No, I didn't! Don't call so often. It's annoying!"

"Okay, okay!" Ingrid conceded, fearing his anger. She had a sharp personality but failed to show the same kindness to her children.

12:53 Fri, 23 Jun.

"I'm hanging up if you don't have anything else. Oh, and Mom, transfer me another 100,000 dollars!"

Ingrid's temper flared. "I gave you 100,000 last week! Why do you need more?"

"That was only enough for a few days. Cut the crap. I want it now," Derick retorted.

"No money! You're extravagant! Do you think we have a money-printing machine?"

"I spend 400,000 to 600,000 a month! I'm a spendthrift!"

"How about 40,000 then? Give me now, or I'll jump off a building!"

Ingrid was furious. (Search the Findnovel.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.)

She thought, Rick has always spent lavishly. He'll throw a tantrum if I don't give him money. He even threatens suicide.

"You're so annoying. I'll give you the money later," she sighed.

"Thanks, Mom. I'm hanging up," Derick said before disconnecting.

Derick was pursuing a barely-known actress who demanded expensive gifts—bags, cars, jewelry. If he refused, she'd stop talking to him. He came from a wealthy family but lacked the ability to make his own fortune, relying on his parents for support. He couldn't get tens of millions at once.

The actress was shrewd, targeting wealthy men. Derick was just one of several older, rich men she was involved with.

The passage has been cleaned up for grammar, punctuation, and style. Inappropriate language has been retained, reflecting the characters' personalities, but some phrasing has been altered for clarity and flow. The final "O" and "SEND GIFT" have been removed as they seemed extraneous.
