Chapter 158

Bruce frowned. "Joanna, let Grandma and the children get to know each other. Don't worry, she just wants to be close to her great-grandchildren. She won't take them away. Please fulfill her wish."

Joanna, unable to refuse, agreed.

Half an hour later, Davian and Irvin were brought to the hospital. Margaret beamed at the children, so happy she almost forgot her great-granddaughter in intensive care. She waved. "Come to me! I'm your great-grandma!"

The butler smiled. "These young gentlemen resemble Mr. Everett."

"Yes, exactly like Bruce when he was young! They are the Everett family's flesh and blood."

"That's right! They're the spitting image of young Mr. Everett!"

Davian and Irvin, adorable in their hesitancy, clung to Joanna. "Mommy, is Lilia sick again?"

"Yes"

Bruce's eyes twinkled. "Little guy, I told you I'm your father. Do you believe me now?"

Davian looked at Joanna timidly, unwilling to acknowledge Bruce.

Margaret urged, "Davian, Irvin, call me Great-grandma!"

"Great-grandma!"

"Good children!" Margaret chuckled. "Great-grandma came in a hurry and didn't bring gifts! Come back later, I'll give you big presents."

Bruce added, "Call me Daddy!" Tears welled in his eyes.

The children looked at Bruce, then Joanna. Davian whispered to Joanna, "Mommy, why does this bad man want us to call him Daddy?"

Irvin agreed, "Mommy, why does he randomly ask children to call him Daddy?"

"Mommy, let's go. We don't like this bad man. We don't want to call him Daddy."

Joanna frowned. "Heis your Daddy!"

"Really? No way!"

"Mommy, are you joking? How can this bad man be our Daddy?"

Davian looked serious. "Mommy, did he bully you again?"

Seeing the boys whispering, Bruce's face darkened. He opened his arms. "Call me Daddy!"

"Oh no! You're not our Daddy! I don't want to call you Daddy!"

"Davian, I didn't expect Bruce Everett wants to be our Daddy!"

"You two, I really am your Daddy. If you don't believe me, ask your Mommy." Bruce glared angrily at Joanna. "Joanna Haynes, it's all your fault the children don't acknowledge me."

"He's really your Daddy!"

The boys remained unconvinced and reluctant to approach Bruce.

Joanna patted their heads. "Be good. Your Daddy promised to donate bone marrow to your sister. He's really your Daddy. Go and call Daddy."

After a long hesitation, they reluctantly called, "Daddy!"

"Good boys!" Bruce hugged them, his eyes red-rimmed. He understood the inexplicable familiarity he felt; they were his sons.

Davian pushed Bruce away.

Margaret waved happily. "Come to Great-grandma quickly! Be good, greet Great-grandma!"

"Hello, Great-grandma!"

Margaret cried tears of joy. "You two are good boys!" "Let's go home with Great-grandma! I'll give you big presents."

Joanna stopped Margaret. "Grandma, this isn't convenient. You still have to care for Lilia. The Everett family will take care of these two boys."

"Why is that inconvenient? The Everett family's flesh and blood should attend the best kindergarten in Greyport. We'll get a professional nursery teacher. I don't trust your helper." Margaret's smile hid a domineering tone.

Joanna felt uncomfortable, fearing Margaret would take her children.

"Grandma! Davian and Irvin aren't familiar with you. They'll be uncomfortable."

"What's there to be afraid of? They'll get used to it. Besides, they're shy because you didn't educate them properly. We'll teach them better communication."

Joanna's face paled. Margaret wanted her children.

Bruce patted Joanna's shoulder. "Don't worry! When Lilia recovers, you can bring the boys back! Grandma likes children and wants to be close to them! She's old, just fulfill her wish!"

Joanna reluctantly agreed. "Don't worry! Leave the children to me. They will be well-taken care of!"

"Davian, Irvin, can you stay at Great-grandma's house for two days?"

"Mommy, we don't want to go. We want to stay here with Lilia."

"Be good and listen to me. Go to Great-grandma's house for two days. When Lilia recovers, Mommy will pick you up."

After much persuasion, they agreed. Joanna, still worried, sent Tracy with them. Margaret left with the children, Bruce seeing them home.

Ingrid arrived aggressively. "Joanna Haynes, you damn bitch! Come out now!"

Joanna, tense, asked, "What's the matter?"

"Do you know what's happening tomorrow?"

"I know!"

"If you know, why did you do it?" Ingrid scolded, pointing at Joanna's nose. "Because my child is sick and needs Bruce's help!"

"Don't worry. When my child recovers, he can get married anytime! I won't ruin his marriage with Roxanne!"

"Damn it! It's coincidental your child fell sick on the eve of their wedding! Do you dare say you didn't deliberately ruin their wedding? Why did you keep your children after divorcing Bruce? You're out to ruin Roxanne's marriage!"

Joanna's expression darkened. "I found out I was pregnant after the divorce! Since I was pregnant, I decided to keep my child! It has nothing to do with you!"

Ingrid raged. "I think you did it on purpose! You're out to stop Bruce from marrying Roxanne! You're shameless!"

Shaun arrived, furious. "Joanna, why make things difficult for Roxy? She's getting married tomorrow. Why are you doing this?"

Joanna choked. Her child was near death, and her father accused her of ruining Roxanne's marriage.

"Mr. Haynes, I'm sorry. You're no longer my father. Please don't talk to me like a parent."

Shaun's eyes widened. "Joanna, you"

"You're the one who said we are no longer father and daughter."

"Alright, alright. You have guts. You don't want to acknowledge me anymore!"

Ingrid sneered, "Did you hear that? This is the good daughter you gave birth to!"

"This is the hospital. Please leave! Don't make a scene!"

"Joanna Haynes, if anything happens to Roxy, I won't let you off!"
