Chapter 19

Roxanne was trapped inside a locked car. Desperate, she pounded on the door. "Bruce, I beg you! Please don't be so heartless!" He remained unmoved.

Five minutes later, the car arrived at a private hospital.

"Mr. Everett, we've arrived," announced the driver.

"No, no! I don't want to go! Bruce, you can't be so heartless"

"Kody, bring her in," Bruce ordered.

"Yes, Mr. Everett."

Two bodyguards pulled Roxanne from the car. "What are you doing? Let go of me! Don't touch me! Help! Help! Bruce, I'm begging you, please don't be so cruel!" she cried, struggling fiercely, but overpowered. Bruce watched coldly, lighting a cigarette.

"Roxanne, I won't allow anyone to scheme against me! This child isn't being born."

"Send her to the operating room."

"Yes, sir."

The doctors and nurses were waiting. "Help! Help! Bruce, please don't do this! You might as well kill me! You can't be so heartless, so ruthless!" He sneered, indifferent to her pleas. He hated being manipulated, especially by women. He wouldn't take responsibility, regardless of the pregnancy.

Quickly, Roxanne was restrained and wheeled from the operating theater. A nurse prepared to draw blood. Roxanne cried out in despair.

Then, Margaret's voice cut through the tension. "Bruce, what are you doing? Are you trying to anger me to death?" The butler pushed Margaret forward, intervening just as Bruce had Roxanne brought out. Margaret had guessed correctly—Bruce was arranging an abortion. Furious, she raged, "You bastard! You…"

Bruce panicked. "Grandma, let me explain!"

"I don't want to hear it! If you dare to abort my great-grandson, I won't live!"

Bruce frowned. "Grandma, you already have great-grandchildren. You really can't accept this!"

Margaret ignored him, scolding, "Roxanne's pregnant with your child! How can you treat her like this? Even a vicious tiger doesn't eat its cubs. You're worse than an animal!"

"Grandma, let me explain!"

"This wasn't a natural conception! She got pregnant through artificial insemination! I never slept with her!" Margaret's anger shifted to shock.

Roxanne, hearing Margaret, burst out, kneeling before her. "Grandma, please save me! Save your great-grandchild! Although it's artificial insemination, I swear it's Bruce's child! I did this because I loved Bruce and feared losing him. I had no choice!"

Margaret was stunned. Artificial insemination? A chill ran down her spine. Roxanne was cunning, but it was still a life.

"Even if it's artificial insemination, it's our Everett family's child! We must keep it!"

"Grandma!" Bruce groaned.

"Go home with Grandma. No one will touch you or your baby!"

"Thank you, Grandma!" Roxanne, relieved, followed Margaret. "Butler, let's go!"

Bruce watched helplessly as they left. "F*ck!" he cursed in frustration. He was powerful, but not against his grandmother.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Joanna was rebellious. As soon as Bruce left, she prepared for discharge.

Andy pleaded, "Miss Haynes, Mr. Everett said you can't leave until you recover!"

"I've recovered. I'm leaving now!"

"No, I can't let you go!"

"Andy, I'm not a criminal! He can't imprison me! I'll do as I please!"

The bodyguards tried to stop her.

"Move aside! If you stop me, I'll call the police!"

They couldn't stop her. Joanna left the hospital, rushing to the Mossbourne factory.

She immediately called Michael.

"Hey, Miss Haynes!"

"Michael, what's the situation at the factory?"

Michael was anxious. "Miss Haynes, why haven't you answered your phone for two days?"

"Something happened. I'm coming now!"

"The deceased's family is causing trouble at the factory entrance daily! It's alarmed the media!"

"Didn't I tell you to comfort them?"

"They're stubborn and unappeasable!"

"I understand. I'll be there now!"

"Alright!"
