Chapter 224

Roxanne was consumed by restlessness, her tears flowing uncontrollably. "Mom, didn't you say you had a way to deal with Joanna? She's getting more and more cocky. If she has another child with Bruce, it will be like she's had four children with him! Even if I have twins with Bruce, I can't compete with her!"

Ingrid rolled her eyes and clenched her teeth in anger. She had already told her two cousins to take care of Joanna. She should have hired a killer.

Three months had passed, and Joanna was not only doing well but was also pregnant. This infuriated Ingrid. Her two useless cousins were always after money but always messed things up when it mattered.

"Don't worry! Just wait, I'll make that slut pay!" Ingrid said.

Roxanne sniffled, saying with intense hatred, "How can I find peace? I'm getting more and more anxious, Mom. I'm really scared! I don't know what to do!" She cried in Ingrid's arms.

However, what scared her most wasn't Joanna's pregnancy; it was Margaret. Some lingering fears remain long after the event. Now, she had nightmares every night, dreaming that Margaret was coming to kill her. She had acted impulsively, without thinking clearly, but she never expected Margaret to die so quickly. Especially now that Kensley was asking her for money, she feared exposure. If the truth came out, Bruce's personality meant the Haynes family would be ruined.

Ingrid didn't understand Roxanne's fear. Seeing her daughter so upset, she only resented Joanna.

"Stop crying, it's pointless! So what if she's pregnant? Aren't you pregnant too? When you give birth to twins for Bruce, even if it's not ideal, the children can still inherit part of his wealth. Crying won't help. You should gather your strength and fight that bitch to the end! Back then, her dead mother was no match for me! Why can't you learn from what I did?"

Roxanne held back her tears. She wanted to learn from Ingrid's tactics, but Bruce wasn't Shaun. He didn't fall for her tricks and wasn't interested in her. In a romantic relationship, without intimacy, love fades.

Chapter 224

"Mom, I just feel hurt and can't help but cry"

Ingrid sighed, distressed, and quickly wiped away her daughter's tears. "Be good, stop crying! Go home and wait! Don't worry, with me around, that bitch won't dare to cross you! Even if she does, I will bring her down! That little bitch won't reach her goal!"

Roxanne felt better and more at ease. She knew her mother was skilled at creating scenes; though not proper, the results were impressive.

The next day, Ingrid prepared to leave. Shaun, engrossed in his newspaper, noticed her. "Why are you heading out so early?" he asked, adjusting his glasses.

"I have a beauty appointment," Ingrid replied, slipping on her high heels.

"A beauty treatment this early?"

"No waiting. I won't be back for lunch, so don't wait for me," she said, grabbing her keys and leaving. She needed to check on her cousins' progress.

An hour later, she arrived at their place. They were waiting.

"What have you two been up to? Do you still want the money?" Ingrid demanded, pointing at them.

Wallace smirked, "Ingrid, we've already started! But damn, this woman is lucky; we missed her twice!"

Ingrid scolded, "I don't care about your methods, just get rid of her! Otherwise, you won't get the two million dollars!"

"Believe me! We will definitely take care of her!"

"Don't just talk! You're enthusiastic about money, but when it gets serious, you make excuses!"

"We've acted! Last month, we almost ran her over in front of her company, but Mr. Everett saved her! Recently, we almost succeeded in the ladies' restroom in Greene Town, but she reacted quickly, and we only cut her hand!"

Ingrid listened with a mix of belief and doubt, but their expressions seemed genuine.

"I don't want excuses. I'll give you another month. If you can't do it, you won't get the money!"

"Don't worry! We're looking for the right opportunity! As soon as we find the right time, we can send her to the afterlife!"

Ingrid rolled her eyes. "I damn well hope so. Stop talking nonsense! I'm leaving!"

Wallace blocked her. "Hey, Ingrid, it's been a long time since the three of us played together! We don't get chances like this often"

Ingrid pushed him away. "Go away! We're adults, stop acting indecent! Focus on what matters!"

She left. It wasn't a change of heart; she'd lost interest in them long ago. The young men at the beauty salon were much more appealing.

After Ingrid left, Oscar frowned. "Wallace, what should we do?"

"Let's go find Ramos and see if he still wants the money," Wallace suggested.

They hired a dying taxi driver, Ramos, for 120,000 dollars.

Soon, they arrived at Ramos' residence.

"Ramos, what's your plan? It has been so long. Do you still want to make money?" Wallace asked.

Ramos sighed. "I've made two attempts, but failed! Her luck is too good! We haven't been able to track her whereabouts. This deal is not going well…"

Wallace added 20,000 dollars. For the sake of his family, Ramos reluctantly agreed.

At Reagan No. S Residence, Bruce brought the children to see Joanna. Joanna, initially dispirited, became energetic.

"Mommy…"

"Baby!" Joanna tried to get out of bed.

"Stay in bed," Bruce said coldly. "Is your appetite better?"

"It's alright!"

"Mommy, we brought you cookies!"

"Thank you, baby!"

"Mommy, do you have a baby?" Irvin asked mischievously.

"Yes."

"That's great, Mommy! I like little sisters. Give me another little sister!"

The children surrounded Joanna, chatting and touching her belly, smiling happily.
