Chapter 230

Bruce Everett was furious. He couldn't understand Joanna Haynes's actions.

Soon afterward, Bruce decided to confront Joanna.

"Send the young masters back to the mansion!" he ordered.

"Yes, sir!" Kody replied before driving away.

Bruce exited the car, his chest burning with rage as he strode toward Joanna's room.

Inside, Joanna slept soundly when the door creaked open. A loud "bang" echoed as the door hit the wall, the lights snapping on instantly.

Joanna startled awake, her eyes instantly focusing on Bruce. He approached the bed, his expression dark.

"Bruce Everett, why are you back?" Joanna asked, scrambling up in fright.

Bruce remained silent, his expression darkening further. He searched the area around the bed—under the pillow, on the bedside table, even under the bed itself.

"What are you looking for?" Joanna asked nervously. He likely already knew about the phone.

After a fruitless search, Bruce demanded, "Where is it?"

"What what are you looking for?" Joanna feigned calm, though panic gnawed at her.

Bruce's gaze was sharp. "Where's the phone?"

Joanna's face paled. "There's no phone! Didn't you already confiscate it?"

Bruce gritted his teeth. "Hand me the phone!"

Terror seized Joanna; her heart pounded, her eyes darting around. Bruce's temper was terrifying.

"Hurry up!" he roared impatiently.

"I don't have a phone"

Bruce's fury escalated at her refusal. He resumed his search.

"What are you doing? Stop acting crazy!" Joanna protested.

"Move!" Bruce snapped, pushing her aside.

With a frustrated "Ah!" from Joanna, Bruce tossed the mattress, finally finding the phone wedged in a crack.

He gritted his teeth. "Joanna Haynes, you got our son to bring you a phone. Who were you calling?"

"I didn't!"

"Give it back!" Joanna lunged for it.

Bruce pushed her back onto the bed and checked the call history. Only one call had been made—to Jaydon Grimm. Joanna had obtained the phone solely to contact her former lover.

Jealousy consumed Bruce. He felt like a green-eyed monster. With a sharp "Smack!", he threw the phone to the ground, shattering it.

Joanna trembled, terrified by his rage. She was defenseless against his anger.

"Joanna Haynes, you refuse to listen!" he accused. "You can't leave Jaydon Grimm, can you?"

Joanna tried to explain, "No, I only called him about work"

But his rage was unyielding. He smiled coldly. "Fine. Since you can't bear to part with him, I'll send you to him." He grabbed her wrist and dragged her from the room.

"Bruce Everett, let go! You're hurting me!"

He pushed her to the ground, dragging her by the wrist, causing her intense pain. "Ouch! Let go!" she cried.

"You can't forget Jaydon Grimm, right? You want him, right? You hate me now that I've gotten you pregnant, right? You called him to save you, right?"

Overwhelmed by pain and anger, tears welled in Joanna's eyes. "Bruce Everett, please stop!"

"Since you love Jaydon Grimm so much, go find him!"

Bruce's eyes blazed; his chest heaved. He'd never been this furious. He'd repeatedly forbidden her contact with Jaydon Grimm, yet she continued to defy him.

"Bruce Everett, I called Jay to help me with the Mossbourne factory!"

He wouldn't listen. "Hmph, you're a bitch! You're promiscuous! Am I not enough? Why are you so cheap?" He slapped her hard. "Smack!"

The slap shattered Joanna's heart. She silently endured the blow, refusing further explanation. She wasn't his girlfriend or wife; dating whomever she chose was her right.

"Fine, yes, I like Jaydon Grimm!" Joanna declared, meeting his gaze with cold dignity. "I didn't want to be with you! You forced me! I don't love you anymore! Our marriage ended long ago, but you refused to let me go!"

Bruce's rage intensified. After ten seconds, he laughed sinisterly. "Joanna Haynes, you'll regret this!"

"Bruce Everett, deal with me, but leave Jaydon Grimm alone!"

"You're a whore! I shouldn't have been so nice to you!"

His words broke Joanna's heart. No one could endure such volatile anger. Divorce had been the right decision; a godsend.

"I won't make it easy for you!" he spat, slamming the door and leaving.

"Andy, arrange a private jet to send the young master to Surbano immediately!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Joanna Haynes, you'll regret this!"

After Bruce left, Joanna sat dazed on the floor as servants packed her belongings. She felt lost.

At Sherane Bay Villa, Bruce angrily sought Roxanne. She'd been with Gavin the previous night but was less frustrated now and had gone to bed early.

"Mr. Everett!" the servants greeted him.

Bruce's face was impassive. He went straight to Roxanne's room. He'd realized Joanna wasn't worthy of his love. If she could find another man, so could he.

"Bruce, why are you back?" Roxanne was startled.

"Take off your clothes!" he commanded.

Roxanne's heart pounded, fearing he'd discovered her relationship with Gavin.

Bruce threw himself on the bed, overwhelmed by frustration, needing to vent.

"Bruce, what's wrong?" Roxanne asked.

He suddenly felt it pointless. He had no feelings for Roxanne, especially considering her pregnancy.

"Bruce, what's wrong?" she repeated.

"Nothing!" he retorted, leaving abruptly. He could easily find other women.

The next day, Bruce didn't bring Davian and Irvin to see Joanna. A week passed without contact. Joanna grew depressed.

"Ms. Haynes, eat something!" a maid urged.

"Stop asking! I'm not a slave or an animal! Give me a phone; I need to call Bruce Everett!"

"Ms. Haynes, Mr. Everett wants us to care for your health during your pregnancy."

"I'm not eating unless I see the boys!" Joanna flung the food to the floor.

The maids provided a phone. Joanna called Bruce.

"Bruce Everett, what do you want?"

"What do you mean, 'what do I want'?" he sneered.

"Where are the boys?"

"They're overseas."

"You said you'd bring them to see me every day!"

"Heh, I'll let you see them if I feel like it! Don't even think about it otherwise!"

"Then I'll terminate this pregnancy!"

"Joanna Haynes, if anything happens to this child, I'll kill you!"

Joanna raged. "Bruce Everett, stop it!"

"Joanna Haynes, you angered me first! Don't mention Jaydon Grimm again, or he'll die!"
