Chapter 49
Margaret arrived at the hospital early in the morning, only to find Bruce missing. Anxiety surged through her, nearly causing her to faint. "Where's Bruce? Haven't you found him yet?"
"Last night, Mr. Everett insisted on leaving. He wouldn't let anyone follow him"
"You incompetent fools! If anything happens to Bruce, I'll bury you all with him!" Margaret raged.
At seventy, her heart was weak. Anger caused chest pains and oxygen deprivation.
The assistant quickly produced an oxygen tank and mask. Margaret calmed slightly after inhaling oxygen.
"Find him! We have to find him!"
Andy reassured her, "Yes, yes. We're searching. Kyle went out last night with others. I'll call him to see if he's found Mr. Everett." Roxanne arrived moments later, having received a message. "Where's Bruce? Is he back yet?"
"Not yet."
"Could he have had an accident? Should we call the police?"
"It hasn't been twenty-four hours. Also, Mr. Everett might be avoiding us." "Where could he have gone? He didn't take his phone, or tell anyone anything. I'm worried sick!" "Grandma, calm down. I'm sure Bruce went out to handle something. He'll be back." Roxanne reassured Margaret. Margaret clutched her chest. "How can I calm down? He's severely injured. Where could he have gone?"
A commotion erupted in the lobby.
"Hurry, doctor! Someone's hurt!"
Bruce rushed in, covered in blood, carrying an unconscious Joanna.
"Bruce!"
"Bruce!"
Distraught, Bruce yelled, "Doctor, come on! Someone's hurt!"
Doctors and nurses rushed to their aid, moving Joanna to a bed and wheeling her to the emergency room.
Relieved to see her grandson, Margaret asked, "Where were you, Bruce? Why are you covered in blood?" "Not now, Grandina!"
Worried about Joanna, Bruce tried to enter the ER. Roxanne blocked him, frustrated. "Did you go looking for Joanna last night, Bruce?"
Margaret interrupted. "Stop asking questions! He's bleeding! Doctor, hurry!"
Jaydon arrived, asking, "Where's Joanna?"
Bruce scowled, remaining silent. Jaydon grabbed Bruce's collar. "I'm asking you. Where's Joanna?"
"Joanna's in the ER! Let go of Bruce!"
Jaydon's white shirt was also bloodstained, but he ignored it, threatening, "If anything happens to Joanna, I won't let you get away with it!" Bruce, knowing he was wrong, sat dejectedly outside the ER.
Roxanne's heart sank. She guessed what Bruce had been doing.
"Bruce, what happened? How did this happen?" Margaret asked.
"Stop asking, Grandma! My head's a mess." Bruce held his head, despondent.
"All right. You're injured. Get your wounds treated."
"No!"
"How can you just leave them? Go now!"
Bruce clenched his jaw and followed the doctor. Jaydon scoffed and sat down.
Thirty minutes later, a doctor emerged. "Doctor, how is she?"
"The patient's left arm is broken, and she has severe hypoglycemia. That's why she fainted! We're putting on a cast…"
Bruce, ignoring his own treatment, rushed over.
"How's Joanna? Is she okay?" He tried to enter the ER.
"Bruce, I warn you. Stay away from Joanna!"
"I warn you to leave Joanna alone!"
They were ready to fight. Jaydon's bodyguards quickly surrounded him. Jaydon, usually unescorted, restrained himself.
Roxanne was upset. "Bruce, what's going on with you and Joanna?"
Bruce took a deep breath and looked at Roxanne calmly. "Let's break up!"
Chapter 49 Boom!
The words struck Roxanne like lightning.
"Bruce, what are you talking about? You're upset…"
"I said, let's break up!"
Roxanne cried. "Bruce, no. We were talking about marriage the other day?"
Bruce frowned. "I said, let's break up. Don't you know why?"
