Chapter 81

Ingrid smiled, patting her daughter's shoulder comfortingly. "Everything's fine, darling. Don't worry! Everything will be perfect once you're married to Bruce Everett. The Haynes family will be so proud! We can't afford to mess this up. Just endure it. Don't cause a scene."

Roxanne nodded. "I understand."

"Then hurry and pack! We're going to the Everett mansion tomorrow. Get to bed early!"

"Okay, Mom. I'll go to my room."

"Good. Sleep early! And don't forget your face mask."

"Got it," Roxanne replied impatiently, heading upstairs.

Back in her room, Roxanne eagerly pulled out a second phone. Gavin had bombarded her with messages, wanting to see her. But the wedding loomed, and she dared not meet him. If Bruce found out, she and her family would be ruined.

Roxanne stared dazedly at her phone when it vibrated. A message from Gavin popped up: “[Roxy, I miss you!]”

Roxanne hesitated before replying: “[We can't meet again. Let's not contact each other for now!]”

Less than a minute later, another message arrived: “[Roxy, don't you miss me? If you're afraid of being seen, I'll pick you up at my house!]”

Roxanne's body burned. She hadn't seen Gavin in two weeks and craved his touch. She felt she couldn't live without a man after experiencing intimacy with him. Besides, Gavin knew her so well; every moment with him was exciting and fulfilling.

After a few minutes of hesitation, she couldn't resist. She typed: “[Okay!]”

Quickly changing, Roxanne tiptoed downstairs. Ingrid emerged for water and saw her daughter sneaking out.

"Roxy! It's late. Where are you going?"

Panicked, Roxanne stammered, "I I'm meeting Bruce!"

Hearing this, Ingrid smiled, unsuspicious. "Hurry along then! Don't keep Mr. Everett waiting. Be bold, don't be so shy! Don't come back tonight. Have a good time with Mr. Everett!"

"Got it," Roxanne replied nervously, grabbing her bag and rushing out.

"That silly girl is finally seeing sense!" Ingrid chuckled, taking a sip of water and returning upstairs. If she knew her daughter was meeting Gavin, she'd likely explode with rage.

Roxanne took a taxi to their usual meeting spot before Gavin picked her up on his motorcycle. He lived in a suburban cottage—a place many in Greyport couldn't afford. His parents no longer lived with him, so he was alone.

Back at the cottage, they fell into each other's arms. "Roxy, you're really getting married? What about me? My lusty kitten, can you live without me?"

Knowing about the wedding, Gavin tried harder than ever to impress her, wanting her to remember him forever, even after marriage.

After a while, Roxanne moaned with pleasure.

A week flew by. Bruce hadn't bothered the Haynes Group, and Joanna enjoyed a peaceful week. It being the weekend, Lilia eagerly asked, "Mommy, are Irvin and Davian coming home today?"

Joanna smiled. "Yes, I'll pick them up later."

That afternoon, she brought Davian and Irvin home from Venturas. They excitedly shouted, "Lilia, we're back!"

"Irvin! You're back! I missed you both so much!"

"We missed you too! Look, I brought you a gift!" Davian proudly presented two cookies.

"What are these?"

"Handmade biscuits from school!"

Lilia took the cookies. "Thank you, Davian!"

Irvin offered some too. "I brought you some too!"

"Thank you, Irvin!"

"Was kindergarten fun?"

"Yes! I made lots of friends!"

"What did you do?"

"Games, learning, and arts and crafts!"

Disappointment clouded Lilia's face. She longed to go to kindergarten, but was confined to her bed.

"I want to go to kindergarten too!"

"You can, once you're better, Lilia."

Davian asked Joanna, "Mommy, can we take Lilia downstairs to play?"

"The weather's nice. We'll go to Ocean Park!"

"Yay! Ocean Park!"

"Behave yourselves and don't run around!"

"Okay!"
