Skylar was speechless after reading Vera's message. She wondered who Vera thought she was, acting so superior. Even if Vera had a right to say what she did, her attempt to smear others while appearing righteous was absurd. Skylar decided not to respond, tossing her phone aside and beginning her morning routine.

Twenty minutes later, emerging from the bathroom, she met Joe's gaze. Their eyes locked. Skylar remained silent, her expression stern. Joe broke the silence. "Vera's appearance at the bar last night was purely coincidental," he said.

"I saw your message and understand now. I realize I was wrong about you," Skylar replied.

Joe noticed her calm demeanor and felt his emotions stir. "So, the photo you forwarded me last night wasn't out of jealousy?"

The photo had been ambiguous. Even Joe had been confused. But Skylar's calm now suggested she wasn't bothered, only concerned with the fairness of their marriage. It was clear he'd been upset about her closeness with Aiken; the photo had been her way of questioning him. Otherwise, she seemed devoid of emotional turmoil.

Skylar was taken aback by Joe's mention of jealousy. Seeing Joe and Vera together had stirred something in her—it must have been jealousy. But… "Is it really that important whether I was jealous or not?"
