Chapter 1052
Rowan tightened his grip, staring at Minerva. Minerva felt perplexed under his gaze.
โI have things to do. Just text me when youโve set a time,โ Minerva said, eager to leave. She sensed something unusual in Rowanโs eyes, a lingering feeling, but reminded herself it was impossible; he was completely focused on Jenny. She was just a past fling.
The more she considered it, the more she doubted her earlier judgment. She had once believed Rowan reliable, naive in her youth when she fell for him. Their engagement had brought immense joy. Now, regret washed over her. There was no reason for him to stop her from leaving.
Watching her drive away, Rowan remained frozen, lost in thought. Only his phone's incessant ringing broke the reverie. Seeing Jenny's name, he frowned and switched off his phone. He couldn't have a meaningful conversation with her; they both needed time to cool down.
Jenny, however, continued calling. Realizing he wasn't answering and had turned off his phone, she became furious, nearly throwing her phone. He must have intentionally ignored her. Frantically, she called one of Rowan's friends.
โIs Rowan with you? No? Did you two make plans for tonight? Oh, okay.โ
โNo! Rowan lied to me,โ Jenny thought angrily. Heโd said he was meeting friends for businessโno families or girlfriendsโand had called her a cab home after the cinema. It was a lie.
Then she remembered seeing Minerva at the cinema. Rowan had been distracted upon seeing her. Had he gone to find her?
Repulsed, Jenny recalled Minervaโs repeated declarations of being done with Rowan. Clearly, that wasn't true. Theyโd exchanged glances right in front of her.
Jenny felt ready to explode. She wouldn't let Rowan see Minerva again. Minerva must have regretted giving up the baby, and their cinema encounter was no coincidence; Minerva had seen them and deliberately chose the same movie, bringing Skylar.
Determined, Jenny vowed, "Minerva, no matter what, Rowan and I will not break up. We will always be together.โ
Chapter 1052
Had Minerva heard Jenny's words, she would undoubtedly have been curious about her reasoning.
Skylar, driving back to Galaxy Villa, noticed a favorite dessert shop was still open. She parked and went inside for a late-night snack. As she prepared to pay, she saw a missed call from Joe. She'd had no signal in the underground parking garage and missed his earlier call; the auction had kept her preoccupied afterward. She wondered what he needed.
After paying, she returned to her car and called Joe, but he didn't answer. She decided not to try again, heading home instead.
Twenty minutes later, Skylar arrived home.
