Chapter 1082

Steven, Charles, Skylar, and Harvey enjoyed eating strawberries. When Skylar entered, the sweet aroma of strawberries filled the air, causing her to swallow hard. "Sounds good," she murmured.

She then shared details of her situation with Joe. Steven and Janine were shocked. Steven asked, "So, you and Joe aren't planning to divorce?"

Skylar replied, "That's right. After careful consideration, we've decided against it. However, we can't be seen publicly for now. We'll announce our marriage once those behind the negative campaign are revealed."

Steven, already aware of the campaign and its perpetrators, simply said, "If you need anything, let me know."

Janine added, "As long as you and Joe are doing well, I'll handle the rest. Don't worry; I won't share anything about you two with anyone."

Just then, Skylar's phone rang. "It's Charles," she said, glancing at the screen.

Janine remarked, "Charles seems busy today. He mentioned an awards event. Why is he calling you?"

Skylar knew Charles was serious about the event. She wondered how he found time to call. Answering, she said, "Hey, Charles."

Charles's voice came through the speakerphone: "Skye, I just saw Lizzie, and she's far less attractive than you. Joe's judgment is seriously compromised. We should distance ourselves from him."

Skylar laughed at the coincidence; Lizzie was also at the event. Both Steven and Janine, having heard Charles's comments, exchanged surprised glances. Had Skylar not already shared her situation, they might have joined Charles in criticizing Joe.

Steven spoke first, "Focus on your event. Don't worry about this nonsense. Call us later; I need to discuss something with you."

Surprised, Charles responded, "You're home? Alright, but I have to say, it won't sit well if I don't speak my mind. Skylar deserves better. Joe isn't good enough for her. I'll call you later."

Charles's strong feelings were well known. If not for Joe's past help with Felicia, his words might have been harsher. Skylar understood his character perfectly.

At the awards ceremony, Charles won Best Supporting Actorโ€”his first award since entering the industry. After years of relative obscurity, he'd finally achieved this significant milestone. He thanked the company, organizers, and his agent, but emphasized his gratitude to his family most of all.

As he left the stage, tears welled in his eyes. Seated again, thoughts of Skylar filled his mind. He then remembered Lizzie, sitting behind him. He turned sharply, his gaze cold.

Lizzie, familiar with the industry, had been invited to perform. Initially, she sensed a cold stare but couldn't identify the source. Her recent social media trending, likely due to jealousy, hadn't concerned her. Then she realized the award-winning actor was staring at her. Was it Charles? Yes. It was.
