Chapter 1101

Skylar said, "Grandma Viola has left us for good, Joe. I'll never see her again." A deep ache settled in her heart. Aiken had said Viola passed away peacefully.

Joe stiffened. Sensing his distress, Skylar recounted Aiken's description of Viola's final moments.

"Are you sure it was Grandma Viola?" Joe asked, his voice heavy.

"I'm certain," Skylar nodded. The image of Viola in the morgue remained vivid. After a brief silence, Joe embraced her. "Let's go to the hotel first. We can plan Grandma Viola's funeral later."

The situation surrounding the negative events was growing increasingly complex. Viola's death had surprised them both, but Skylar's well-being was the priority; Viola's passing was a significant blow.

They soon arrived at a four-star hotel. Joe wore sunglasses as they entered. The hotel room was tidy, with a few books and reading glasses on the table. A small bag sat in the corner near the suitcase. Viola's belongings were minimal; the bag was compact, containing only a few articles of clothing. The bathroom held only essentialsโ€”basic toiletries and a single jar of face cream. This was typical of Viola's simple lifestyle in the countryside.

Skylar flipped through the books. They appeared new, various literary works unrelated to antiques. The small room allowed her to quickly organize Viola's few possessions.

As she was packing the books, a piece of paper slipped from one. Joe noticed it first. "What's this?" he asked, picking it up.

It was letterhead. Skylar joined him as he unfolded it.

"It's a letter from Grandma Viola to me," Skylar whispered, her eyes drawn to the salutation, "Skye." She began to read aloud, her voice trembling:

"Skye, by the time you read this, I should be gone. Don't be sad. Much has happened lately, things I can't explain or guide you through. Since learning of your marriage to Joe, I've sensed you'd face challenges.

You need to prepare for a rebirth from the ashes. I can't reveal more; it might endanger you.

The recent negative events in Jipsburg are connected to my brother. His obsession runs deep, and I won't see him again.

This is a trial many in Jipsburg must face. I've helped many, yet couldn't escape changing destiny. I remain alone. Fortunately, you've been by my side. You are my dearest one.

Skye, always follow your heart. I know you're a good child. Perhaps one day, we'll meet again."

Tears streamed down Skylar's face as she finished the letter. Clutching it tightly, she choked out, "So Grandma Viola knew everything. She didn't say it, but I understand her silence.

She did it for us. But in the end... Grandma Viola suffered so much."
