Chapter 1222
Ned said, "Thanks," then put his phone away and walked away.
After he left, Janine glanced at Skylar. "No wonder you mistook him. I really thought he was Joe just now."
Skylar, calmer now, kept her eyes on the black profile picture in WhatsApp. "Yeah, they're almost identical." While a few similar features could be coincidence, a persistent feeling told her Ned might be Joe, and that Joe might still be alive.
Skylar and Janine's checkups revealed they were both perfectly healthy, needing only their annual checkups going forward. Janine went to work; Skylar went to meet Natalie. The film crew had the day off, so they decided to have lunch at a barbecue restaurant.
Unfortunately, it was packed. Without a reservation, they had to wait.
While waiting, Natalie said, "This is my fault. I knew this place was popular. You have to reserve or expect a wait."
"It's fine. We're not in a rush," Skylar replied, glancing at the time. It was 12:30 p.m. She'd had a late breakfast after her checkup and wasn't very hungry.
Natalie nodded. "Good point. You rarely come back, and you'd regret missing their barbecue."
Before she could finish, her phone rang. She hesitated to answer the unfamiliar number. After it rang out, the caller immediately called back. Skylar asked, "Spam call?"
"Yeah, it seems like harassment. This person has been calling for days, trying to set up a meeting. She claims to be Mr. Powell's fiancรฉe," Natalie said, frustrated.
Skylar was surprised. "Mr. Powell's fiancรฉe? He's engaged?" The fact that he was engaged, yet still came to Jipsburg, especially if his role was to get close to Natalie, was deeply unsettling.
