Chapter 1234

Ned glanced toward Skylar, surrounded by several sharply dressed men in suits. They appeared to be in discussion, but she couldn't discern the topic. After a fleeting glance, Ned resumed his walk past the bridal shop with his entourage.

Skylar felt momentarily disoriented. That brief glimpse evoked memories of Joe's gaze.

"Skye? Skye? What are you looking at?" Mona called repeatedly, but Skylar remained oblivious, lost in thought at the window.

Mona lifted her wedding dress and approached, following Skylar's gaze. She saw only ordinary passersby on the bustling street.

Skylar snapped out of her reverie, slightly apologetic. "Sorry, I was distracted. Your wedding dress looks wonderful. Perhaps you could compare it to the others you've tried on?"

Mona, a simple soul who didn't overthink things, brightened at the suggestion.

"I think this is the best one yet. It makes my back look so delicate, and I love it."

She gazed at her reflection, growing more pleased with each glance. She wanted to present the best version of herself to Steven on their wedding day, to show her friends and family that she'd found a man she could trust implicitly. She believed wholeheartedly in their enduring love and happiness.

Around noon, Steven called. Mona's face lit up as she ended the call and turned to Skylar. "Steven's joining us for lunch!"

"I won't intrude on your romantic lunch date. I have plans with a friend," Skylar teased, knowing Steven's busy schedule and wanting to avoid being a third wheel during their precious time together.

Mona looked slightly disappointed. "Are you sure you can't join us?"

"Next time. Once you're married, we'll have plenty of opportunities for family lunches. You and Steven should savor these moments before the wedding; they're precious," Skylar said with a smile.

Mona, cherishing her time with Steven, no longer insisted. They had many wedding details to discuss.

Skylar had lunch plans with Minerva, who had recently become engaged and returned to work at her family's company, leaving her overwhelmed. Meeting up was a rare treat.

They met at a quiet Wiscadian restaurant, nearly arriving simultaneously. Minerva immediately began to vent. "I've been so busy! I suddenly miss my days abroad, focusing solely on my studies without the pressures of work and this office chaos."

"I brought you some collagen protein powder. It's instant โ€“ just add water โ€“ perfect for your busy schedule," Skylar said, handing over a recent mall purchase.

Skylar, having seen Minerva's Instagram posts, understood her situation. Adapting after several years away wouldn't be easy, but Minerva was capable, and it was simply a matter of her own willingness.

Minerva accepted the powder, touched. "You really are the best."
