Rosa frowned, seeing Skylar. Why did she keep running into Skylar? She suspected Skylar had discovered their location and followed them.

Skylar, lowering her head, hadn't expected this encounter at a car accident. A man's voice called from the car, "Who is it?"

Rosa gave Skylar a cold glance before answering, "It's Ms. Sullivan." Ned emerged from the car. His dark eyes instantly fixed on Skylar.

"Mr. Sowle, Ms. Reese," Skylar greeted them.

Rosa demanded, "What is Ms. Sullivan doing here?"

Skylar's face turned cold. "Just passing by," she said, then added, "Could you please close the door? There's an accident ahead; I want to go over."

Rosa didn't believe her. Who would believe such a coincidence? Despite her doubts, she closed the car door. Skylar walked away without looking back.

Rosa reopened the door. Ned was also heading toward the accident.

"Ned, it's dangerous! It's better not to go," Rosa called anxiously, but the noise prevented him from hearing. Biting her lip, she followed, struggling in her high heels.

Watching Ned, who didn't even glance back, follow Skylar filled her with hurt. He'd claimed no feelings for Skylar, yet he seemed unable to resist her. Her eyes reddened with grievance.

Her high heels slowed her. She caught up to Ned only near the accident. She grasped his arm tightly. "Ned, it's very dangerous. We shouldn't get too close."

"It's fine," Ned replied quietly, unconcerned.

Rosa followed his gaze to Skylar, who was helping firefighters clear debris with others. Skylar's small shovel was tiny, but she worked quickly.

The sun beat down. The harsh light shone on Skylar's fair face, but she remained focused. Undeniably stunning, she was especially captivating in her concentration. Even Rosa found herself moved.

The light in Ned's eyes revealed his interest. Rosa clung to his arm. "Ned, I'm a little scared. Let's go back to the car."

She believed Skylar was scheming, trying to impress Ned. Rosa sneered inwardly, realizing she'd underestimated Skylar.

"You go back to the car. The accident is blocking the road; it'll take a while," Ned said, continuing toward Skylar.
