Chapter 1246
When Skylar saw an unfamiliar number, she assumed it was spam. She was surprised, therefore, to find it was Rosa.
โMs. Reese, how did you get my number?โ she asked.
Rosa replied, โI asked a friend. Regardless, the source is irrelevant. I want to meet you.โ
Skylar, packing her suitcase at Galaxy Villa, set down her clothes. โIf you have something to say, say it over the phone,โ she responded.
Rosa was displeased. โItโs better in person. Dinner tonight, if youโre free?โ
Some matters were difficult to discuss over the phone. A meeting would clarify her intentions and, Rosa believed, deter Skylar.
However, Skylar replied, โSorry, Iโm busy tonight.โ
She had dinner plans with Janine and others, followed by time at Natalieโs cafรฉ, and a flight the next afternoon.
Rosaโs tone hardened. โSo, you simply donโt want to meet.โ
In Rosaโs mind, refusal indicated guilt.
Skylar found Rosaโs attitude ridiculous. โYou could say that. Weโre not close; thereโs no need.โ
There was no point wasting time with someone she barely knew, especially given Rosaโs consistently unpleasant demeanor. This invitation felt suspicious and unnecessary.
Rosa hadn't expected such bluntness. She erupted. โYes, we arenโt close, and thereโs no need to meet. Letโs talk on the phone, then.โ
Skylar put the phone on speaker, continuing to fold clothes.
โI know about your attempts to appear before Ned repeatedly. Let me be clear: Ned and I are getting married soon. We have a long history, and I wonโt tolerate interference. I donโt care about your past, but stay away from Ned,โ Rosa declared, asserting her position as Nedโs fiancรฉe.
Skylar frowned slightly. โYouโre overreacting.โ
โDonโt assume everyone is as narrow-minded as you. Youโre an antique restorer; focus on your career, and your future will be bright. Donโt take shortcuts and become a hidden mistress; it wonโt benefit you,โ Rosa lectured.
Sheโd seen countless women seeking shortcuts, seducing other peopleโs partnersโdespicable behavior.
โIโve never been anyoneโs mistress,โ Skylar retorted before ending the call.
The relationship between Rosa and Ned seemed less solid than it appeared. If it were strong, Rosa wouldn't be so insecure, reaching out to Skylar. Skylar had encountered Ned only a few times, almost always with Rosa present, yet Rosa remained insecureโa telling sign. Perhaps Ned wasn't as dependable as he seemed.
Considering Nedโs lunch invitation for the following day, she frowned again. Even without her flight back to Murida, she wouldn't have accepted. It was frustrating that Ned resembled Joe so much.
With that thought, Rosa's annoyance faded.
Rosa stared at her phone, anger simmering. โShe hung up on me! How rude!โ
Before continuing her tirade, Skylarโs denial of being a mistress struck herโwho would believe that?
