Chapter 1290

Maisy glared at the three men, then angrily addressed Skylar. "Skylar, aren't you being too ruthless?"

Skylar, recalling her past life's hardships, sneered. "Coming here today was a mistake. Escaping implies lawbreaking. How many bodies have you stepped over? Leave now, or I'll call the police."

Maisy's expression shifted dramatically. She hadn't expected Skylar to guess her escape method so quickly. Indeed, she'd caused countless deaths over the yearsโ€”too many to count. But she considered those lives insignificant; they would have died anyway, she rationalized, and she'd made good use of them.

For several years, she'd been part of a criminal organization, enjoying a comfortable life while aiding in various crimes. Her privileged upbringing and university education had made it easy to manipulate others. She'd even conned some classmates. She felt no remorse. Why should she suffer abuse, even to the point of infertility, while her classmates lived lavishly?

Janine, sensing the truth in Skylar's words, looked at Maisy with disappointment. "Just leave."

Maisy breathed deeply, hatred blazing in her eyes. "You'll regret this! You'll pay for this!"

She coldly surveyed the room before walking out, followed by the property manager and security guards.

The incident left Skylar and Janine in a grim mood. They hadn't anticipated Maisy's return after three years. This was unsettling.

After a silence, Janine said, "I'm still uneasy. Tomorrow, I'll go to the police station with your brother early in the morning."

"Alright," Skylar replied, understanding Janine's struggle. Reporting her own daughter wasn't easy. But Maisy was a ticking time bomb; addressing the situation now would minimize future risks. Skylar was leaving for Murida the next day, and Maisy's unpredictability was a major concern.

Janine later posted about Maisy's visit in their family group chat. Everyone responded immediately, even Harvey, who was at campus.

"She actually dared to show up? Mom, don't be soft on her. Sympathy will only embolden her! She might even threaten our lives someday, and I'm not exaggerating."

Charles agreed. "Harvey's right. And I heard almost no one returns from where she was. Her return is fishy!"

"Maisy is capable of anything," Skylar added. "I only acknowledge my sister. I'm free tomorrow; I'll go to the police station with you."

Steven chimed in. "Charles and Harvey are right. I've interacted with Maisy; she's selfish and ruthless. She won't be grateful. If she comes back once, she'll come back again and again, resorting to extremes if she fails. Mercy will only invite endless trouble."

The brothers' message to Janine was clear: they weren't being cruel; Maisy needed to be handled decisively.

Janine considered her sons' words and looked at Skylar. "They're afraid I'll go soft on Maisy."
