Chapter 1338

In an instant, Rosa felt a serious threat looming. There had never been another woman's scent on Joe before. Always hyper-vigilant, she closely monitored everything about him. For over three years, he had been utterly focused on his career, maintaining a cold distance from everyone, including her. She had witnessed secretaries and employees attempt to flirt, but none had succeeded; their efforts met with pitiful consequences. He simply wouldn't allow anyone close.

So, was it Skylar? Had they met today? The presence of each other's scents could only mean one thing. No wonder she'd seen only Gloria, not Skylar. Joe and Skylar must have been together. They must have slept together!

This thought shattered Rosa's composure. She stared blankly as Joe walked ahead. "Ned, did you meet someone today? You have perfume on you," she exclaimed, running to him, gripping his arm tightly, her face etched with obsession. If it was Skylar, what would she do? Everyone would mock her, even Skylar, who would surely feel triumphant.

Joe stopped and turned. His gaze instilled inexplicable panic, making her instantly regret her question. This wasn't the time for confrontation. If Joe admitted it, what then? The awkwardness would be unbearable.

Just as Joe was about to respond, she quickly changed the subject. "Go wash your hands and change your clothes, then come eat. The food's been ready, and it will get cold."

"Some things can wait until after your surgery," Joe replied in a low voice. "I'll go wash up first."

Rosa froze. Some things? What things? A sudden ominous feeling washed over her. She sensed an implicationโ€”that he wanted to end their relationship. Even without his memories, he had fallen for Skylar. No, that couldn't happen. Absolutely not.

A storm raged in Rosa's mind. But by the time Joe emerged from the bathroom, she had regained her composure.

"Food's ready," she said, smiling warmly, still wearing her apron. "I learned two of these recipes online, so I'm not sure how they turned out. Try them and let me know."

"Okay, let me try," Joe replied, sitting down and surveying the dishes.

He had told her before that she didn't need to cook for him. Her cooking didn't suit his taste, and she talked too much. But she hadn't listened. Sometimes, he wondered if it was his imagination, but upon arriving home, he felt like someone was waiting, that the meals were prepared just for him. But it all felt like a fantasy.

Rosa watched him closely as he tasted the food. "How is it? The online tutorial was very detailed, and I followed every step. I haven't tasted it myself yet, but it looks good."

"Not bad," Joe confirmed.

Rosa's face lit up. "That's wonderful! I'll keep cooking for you, then." She immediately took a bite herself.
