Chapter 1948

Caleb sat in his car, intently watching Stephen and the woman. The woman exuded superficial glamour, while Stephen acted meekly and ingratiatingly, resembling nothing more than a boy toy. He was a stark contrast to his demeanor with Simona, where he cultivated a cold, noble façade. If Caleb hadn't been observant, he might have mistaken them for different people.

Unsure of how to proceed, Caleb contacted Skylar; discussing it with other friends would embarrass Simona. After all, Simona had proudly showcased this man on social media, only to discover him as a deceitful scoundrel. No one could easily accept such a betrayal.

In the car, Stephen and the woman openly kissed. Caleb quickly recorded a short video and sent it to Skylar. "This guy's only skills are lying and fooling people. Other than that, he's useless. Simona's been terribly lied to. I almost jumped out and punched him."

Skylar replied promptly, "Don't do anything for now. With Aiken around, he won't let Simona get hurt."

Reading her message, Caleb calmed down. Skylar was right. He'd forgotten about Aiken. If he'd witnessed the infidelity, Aiken likely knew as well, perhaps waiting for the opportune moment to expose Stephen to Simona. Regardless, Stephen's actions were reprehensible.

Skylar immediately forwarded the photo and video to Aiken. "Do you know about this?"

Aiken didn't reply immediately, likely due to being busy. Skylar checked the time before going downstairs, bidding Gloria and Veronica goodbye before leaving the house. Aiken replied while she was en route: "I arranged that."

Seeing his reply, Skylar sighed in relief. As she suspected, Aiken had a plan. Skylar had hoped Stephen would transcend his difficult upbringing, becoming someone Simona could trust and love, but she'd been overly optimistic. Stephen's susceptibility to Aiken's scheme revealed his true character. Such a calculating individual didn't deserve Simona.

Simona would be heartbroken upon discovering Stephen's true nature. However, everyone faces challenges growing up, encountering their share of disappointments.

Lost in thought, Skylar found herself in a traffic jam. The city center always had heavy traffic; fortunately, she'd left early, still able to reach the restaurant on time. Many drivers were angry, but as most shouted in their native language, Skylar couldn't understand and didn't pay much attention.

As she neared her destination, traffic came to a near standstill. A mile away—a fifteen-minute walk—she inched forward slowly. Her phone rang; Joe's deep voice filled the earpiece. "There's a traffic jam, so don't rush. Drive safely," he reminded her thoughtfully.

Seeing the motionless cars ahead, Skylar smiled. "It's definitely jammed. I'll be careful. You too."

"I'm here already. What would you like to eat? I'll send you the menu," Joe replied.
