Chapter 1355

If Joe's identity remained uncertain, a paternity test offered the most straightforward solution. Gloria might even ask Edwin to come to Murida. She had been profoundly disappointed in her son and resolved to sever ties, but now, she would concede if it meant bringing Joe back.

Skylar's eyes lit up. "A paternity test?" She couldn't believe she'd overlooked such an obvious method of confirmation. She'd had several opportunities to discreetly collect a strand of his hair, but the thought hadn't occurred to her.

"Yes, I only thought of it today," Gloria nodded. The urge to confront Joe at the hospital intensified with each word. After over three years of waiting, she couldn't bear to see Skylar further slandered and humiliated. The media's portrayal was outrageous, painting Skylar as a mistress. However, Skylar and Joe possessed a marriage certificate, making them a legitimate couple.

Skylar offered a reassuring nod, smiling gently. "Don't worry, Grandma. Even if we went to the hospital today, we probably wouldn't reach him. Let's wait a little longer. I believe he'll give me an answer." He had requested a personal meeting, and she sensed an unspoken connection. She believed he would contact her soon.

She acknowledged Rosa's feelings for Joe and the potential closeness of their three-year relationship, contrasting it with her own much shorter acquaintance. This realization struck her as she recalled their embrace at the hospital, a detail perhaps overlooked in the shock of discovering Ned's true identity. Her thoughts were tangled, requiring time to untangle.

Gloria sighed, regaining her composure. "You're right, Skye. The rumors are rampant, and stirring things up won't help. Let's give it a day. I refuse to believe he'd actually marry that woman tomorrow."

Veronica added, "Neither do I! He's probably placating Rosa. The online commentary is outrageous, but let's ignore that. What would you like for dinner, Mrs. Martin Senior, Mrs. Martin? I'll start preparing now."

Gloria waved her hand. "Whatever you feel like making will be fine."

Skylar smiled. "I'd like some pasta."

"Pasta? Sure! I'll get the ingredients ready. Carbonara tonight," Veronica replied, heading to the kitchen.

Skylar gently held Gloria's arm. "Please don't worry, Grandma. I'm fine. Rosa's suicide attempt must have caught Joe off guard. I didn't even know he'd broken up with her before the news broke. He probably has a plan. Let's wait and see. Don't worry yourself sick. Your health is paramount. Besides, if they marry tomorrow, I'll crash it. What's to fear?"

"Alright, I'll listen to you. You're right. They haven't married yet, have they? I've been craving pasta myself. Let's enjoy a large plate tonight. Let's eat well and leave the complications to him." Gloria nodded repeatedly.

Seeing Gloria's improved mood, Skylar felt relieved. "Grandma, I'm going to take a shower. I'm feeling a bit sweaty."

"Okay, hurry along."

Once Skylar left, Gloria sighed softly. "Haven't these two been through enough?"

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Rosa lay in bed, staring intently at Joe.
