She was knowledgeable about jewelry and keenly aware of the difference between genuine and fake pieces. She knew Joe had brought her to an expensive store.

After browsing, Skylar chose an emerald gemstone necklace. Gloria probably owned many gemstone necklaces, but Skylar was drawn to its simple, eternity-symbolizing design.

“I’ll take this one,” Skylar said, picking up the necklace.

Joe had been watching her closely, carefully observing her selection. He found her attentiveness undeniably beautiful, a quality she might not have even recognized in herself.

He had no objections. “Okay.” It was a design Gloria would like; Skylar had good taste.

Skylar handed her card to the sales assistant.

“We’re gifting this to Grandma together. I’ll pay,” Joe interjected, giving the sales assistant a pointed look.

“Just now, heading upstairs, I saw this outfit and thought it would look good on Grandma,” Skylar explained.

Joe added, “Let’s take my car to Pearlhall Residence.”

Skylar had no objections; they’d agreed to act like a loving couple for Gloria. She gave Paul her keys. “Sorry to trouble you, Paul.”

Skylar and Joe got into Joe’s car. The driver drove smoothly, but traffic was heavy due to rush hour.
