Chapter 219

Skylar's mind went blank. She didn't realize when Joe had shifted their positions so she was straddling him. His hand pressed down on her head; the other wrapped around her waist.

She felt like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered, unable to move. She'd never experienced such an intense, domineering kiss.

When Joe finally released her, her breathing was uneven. She felt she'd almost suffocated.

Joe gently stroked her hair. His touch was tender; his voice low and teasing, with a hint of satisfaction. "Still find me old?"

If she did, he'd make her think otherwise in bed.

Dizzy and a little scared, Skylar caught her breath. "I swear I don't I don't find you old."

"I'll believe you this time." Joe's voice seemed deeper than before.

Skylar tried to stand, but Joe stopped her. "Don't move." His voice was stern.

Feeling wronged, Skylar said, "I'm not doing this on purpose. This is uncomfortable."

"I'm uncomfortable too." Joe's voice deepened further. Skylar's physique aroused him intensely. Facing her, he felt he couldn't restrain himself.

On the verge of tears, Skylar pleaded, "Please let go of me." His hand on her waist felt like fire.

Joe looked at her slightly swollen lips, cleared his throat, and released her.

Skylar immediately stood and hurried from the hot spring pool, as if escaping something deadly. "I I'm tired. I'll go shower and rest. See you tomorrow." She didn't glance at Joe as she opened the villa door. She looked as if fleeing something terrifying.

Joe chuckled. Realizing his impulsiveness—the hot spring, the alcohol—he pressed his temples in frustration and stood.

Upstairs, Skylar showered, changed into clean clothes, and returned to her room. Lying in bed, images of the encounter flooded her mind. It had been too much.

Suddenly, her phone beeped with a WhatsApp message. She picked it up, hoping to calm herself.

The private detective had sent photos and videos of Maisy taking drugs and associating with men in a bar. Everything had been recorded, though whether the substances were definitively drugs remained unclear.

"I'll continue investigating and gathering solid evidence," the detective messaged.

Skylar replied, "Okay," and closed the chat. She then saw an unread message from Natalie: "Was it a coincidence? Jeremy wasn't at the office. He was supposed to be on a business trip tomorrow, but left earlier today?"
