Chapter 322

Steven had just clocked in for work and was about to sit down when Kenny approached, looking worn out. Steven disliked Kenny.

“What do you want?” Steven asked, glancing up.

Kenny’s eyes were bloodshot, indicating a sleepless night.

“I’ve taken a leave of absence. Starting today, I’ll work every other day,” Kenny announced.

Steven’s patience was wearing thin. “Why do I need to know this?”

“Of course you do! My mother was in a car accident and had her legs amputated. She’s bedridden and needs constant care. But Skylar only came to the hospital on the day of the surgery and then vanished. We can’t reach her,” Kenny said, his voice rising in frustration.

Steven was taken aback. “Your family issues aren’t my concern.”

“How is it not? Skylar is your sister, my mother’s biological daughter. She should be caring for her, but she disappeared without a word,” Kenny said, his frown deepening.

Steven sneered. “You’ve never treated Skylar like family. Now that there’s trouble, you want to guilt-trip her? Do you have the right? It’s your and your siblings’ responsibility to care for your mother. If Skylar chooses to help, it’s out of kindness. If she doesn’t, it’s perfectly reasonable.”

“But we all have jobs and can’t spare the time. Only Skylar—” Kenny began to argue.

Steven’s expression turned grim at Kenny’s brazen entitlement. He continued, “Skylar has a better job than any of you. Just because your family is out of touch with reality, don’t assume everyone else is. If you have nothing else to say, I have work to do.”

Kenny instinctively denied, “She can’t possibly compare—” He stopped short, realizing the truth. The Williamses had always seen Skylar as inferior, dismissing her contributions as insignificant.

This realization hit Kenny hard. His muscles tensed. Stiffly, he turned and left.

Steven watched him go with a cold expression. “Shameless.”

Chapter 322

He knew Skylar was on vacation and felt even more protective of her, knowing the Williams family’s despicable intentions.

The next morning, Skylar woke up after ten o’clock; Joe had already left. After showering and dressing, she found her phone on the floor. Joe had left a message: He’d left at 7:00 a.m. and instructed her to call the hotel butler for breakfast. He’d also arranged for Paul to accompany her today, emphasizing that it wasn’t safe for a woman to travel alone.

Skylar sighed. Fine.

After breakfast, Paul knocked, holding a printed itinerary. “Ms. Sullivan, I’ve prepared an itinerary with detailed descriptions. Please choose a schedule,” he said.

Skylar was impressed. “Such professionalism!”

“Thank you. I have a knack for making sure everything goes perfectly,” Paul said proudly. Joe had instructed him to ensure Skylar had a great time. They spent the day visiting several places. Paul even used a professional camera and took stunning photos.

Skylar praised him again. “These are amazing.” Paul’s skills were impressive; even Joe would acknowledge his mastery of photography. At dinner, they discussed their plans for the next day.
