Chapter 336
Skylar looked at Christopher as if he were mad. His behavior was repulsive and revealed the ugliest aspects of human nature. "Christopher, you're disgusting," she said.
Christopher froze. "Skye, can't we talk? I came all this way to find you. Haven't I shown my determination? I admit I was wrong and deeply regret it. They say a reformed rake makes the best husband. Please, calm down and look at me."
In the past, Christopher would beg for forgiveness when he angered Skylar, and she'd always forgive him. But now, he realized she had changed.
Skylar stared at him with icy eyes, then turned and walked away from the beach without a word. Seeing her leave so decisively, his eyes widened in disbelief. She was really leaving!
He anxiously stood and chased after her. "Don't go! Babe, please don't go!"
Skylar was disgusted by the use of "babe." "Get lost. If you harass me again, I'll call the police."
Christopher's gaze fell on Skylar's collarbone. He hadn't noticed it before, but now he saw a mark on her partially exposed collarbone. Having been intimate with Maisy, he recognized it immediately. His eyes widened in shock. The more he looked, the more alarmed he became.
"What's this? It's a mosquito bite, right? Tell me it's a mosquito bite!"
Skylar followed his gaze. In her haste that morning, she hadn't noticed the mark. She was wearing a strappy, long dress that exposed her collarbone. Two nights ago, Joe had been intense, leaving marks on her collarbone and waist. Yesterday's dress had covered them, but today she'd forgotten. She'd assumed they'd fade.
Skylar felt annoyed by Joe's behavior in bed.
"Is that any of your business?" she replied coldly. She'd once thought Christopher was unstable; now, it was clear he had serious issues.
Christopher's eyes reddened. "How can it not matter? You're not the kind of woman who'd degrade herself. This hickey must be from two days ago. Did you find some random guy? You never let me touch you when we were together. I respected you and waited until marriage. Now look at you. You let someone else sleep with you. How could you do this to me?"
Despite being with Skylar for years, Christopher had never had sex with her. He was a normal man, but he'd restrained himself out of love for her.
"You preferred someone else over me? Skylar, you're so heartless! If you'd let me sleep with you earlier, I wouldn't have been tempted by Maisy. My infidelity was largely your fault!"
Then, a sharp slap landed on Christopher's face. He held his cheek, feeling the sting.
"Who I sleep with is none of your business. Take another step, and I'll call the police and charge you with harassment," Skylar said coldly.
Christopher stood dazed, watching Skylar walk away. He gritted his teeth. He wouldn't give up. Skylar belonged to him.
