Chapter 366
Natalie noticed Skylar and followed her gaze. Her expression changed when Jeremy unexpectedly appeared.
He had free time; he simply devoted all of it to others.
When Jeremy spotted Natalie and Skylar, he was stunned.
โNathโฆโ
Natalie felt aggrieved hearing his voice, which seemed to soothe the turbulent emotions she'd been experiencing.
Joe exchanged glances with Skylar. Skylar knew Jeremy and Joe were friends, but she hadn't expected to encounter them at the restaurant. John had also noticed her.
"We'd better not disturb you," Natalie said. She didn't know what to say to Jeremy. Away from him, she had many questions; in his presence, she felt unsure how to proceed.
John was stunned, bewildered by the situation. Joe, however, was surprised that Skylar and Natalie knew each other.
Skylar nodded to Joe before Natalie took her hand and they left.
After they departed, John voiced his suspicions. "Jeremy, are your wife and Joe's wife friends?"
"What? Your wife is Skylar?" Jeremy asked Joe, shocked.
Joe nodded, tapping the table thoughtfully.
Jeremy hadn't expected their circles to overlap so significantly. The coincidence of Skylar being Joe's wife was incredible.
"Did you notice how your wife looked at you? Angry, avoiding you? Did she suspect something? Don't underestimate a woman's intuition," John warned.
Jeremy frowned. "She's not that observant."
"It's not about observation," John countered.
Joe abruptly announced, "Some time ago, at the hot spring resort, Skylar and I overheard you and Annabelle in the woods."
Jeremy's expression changed dramatically.
"We didn't approach; we only heard your voices," Joe added, giving a meaningful glance. "Skylar and Nath are best friends. She won't say anything to raise Nath's suspicions if she's unsure. I'll end things with Annabelle."
Jeremy realized the coincidence was a warning. He pursed his lips. He couldn't imagine the consequences if Natalie discovered his affair.
John stroked his nose. He'd met Annabelle once and knew she was difficult. He sensed Jeremy wouldn't easily resolve this. He hinted at Joe, but Joe remained preoccupied, ignoring him.
Except for John, the other two were lost in thought throughout the meal.
Leaving the Wiscadian restaurant and entering the car, Natalie felt her mind go blank. Meeting Jeremy, she felt he'd become a stranger. She didn't know what to say. She should have felt comfortable and familiar with him. Why did she feel like a stranger?
