Chapter 374

Sadie wished she could shoot lasers from her eyes. Black spots clouded her vision, fueled by sheer fury. She'd had a terrifyingly realistic nightmare, leaving her utterly terrified. Instead of comfort, her sons reprimanded her.

Had she truly given birth to them? Before her accident, she'd considered her sons and daughter, Maisy, her pride and joy. They were respectful and attentive. Skylar, however, was a different story.

The nightmare itself played out like a demented, horrifying drama. Initially, Sadie was horrified, then reflective, ending in remorse. She was experiencing what Skylar had suffered, though arguably receiving better treatment. If the nightmare reflected reality, did she deserve the title of "Mom"?

"None of you! All the blood, sweat, and tears of giving birth and raising you were wasted!" Sadie shrieked.

Kenny disliked this. "Mom, we've dropped everything to care for you since your accident. Isn't that enough? We understand you can't accept your condition, but the past is immutable. Please calm down. Stop hurting yourself and us," he pleaded.

Peter and Samuel remained sullen and silent. Sadie could only glare at Kenny before crying tears of regret.

The next day, Skylar carried a heavy bag to work, filled with local goods and snacks for her colleagues. Though she had days off remaining, she came in after hearing of their heavy workload—and because she had a mortgage and refurbishment fees to pay.

En route, she received a text from Natalie: "This is my first day of work! I’m feeling great! Wish me luck, Skye!"

Skylar replied at a red light: "Good luck at work, Natty! Text me if you need help."

Arriving at Gardner Group, Skylar smoothly parked, grabbed her purse, and headed inside. As she reached the entrance, a colleague rushed toward her.

"Skylar, don't go to work! Those people who were troubling you brought the media and reporters! Security's called the police. I'll call you when it's calmed down."

Skylar's smile vanished. She saw several people by the entrance, some with microphones, others with cameras. She also spotted Kenny and Samuel among them.

Her colleague, noticing her frown, added, "Don't worry. We'll handle this. Mr. Gardner Senior has given us orders."

Just then, Skylar received a call. "Steven," she answered.

"Skye, don't go to work. Stay home," Steven said seriously.

Skylar's frown deepened. "Steven, what's going on?"

Had Steven discovered the Williamses' intentions? Surely not.
